I would recommend Colonial Place to a new family in Norfolk. It is a safe place and is zoned for good schools. The people in the neighborhood are very kind and friendly. There is a playground and a dog park which is perfect for families.

I've lived in Colonial Place since 1994. It's a beautiful old neighborhood surrounded by water. Occasionally, there is high flooding, but there seems to be work on the current seawall at the riverfront.

There may be some times of uncertainty of whether local authorities are improving on crimes, but they have resorted to enforce more training to handle situation better. More local businesses are staying open later for a better night life experience and help enhance the diversity of the city. As well for having many college campuses throughout the city many residents within the city are young.

There are opportunities but they may not be what you want and if they are it doesn't mean that you're going to get them.
