Founded in 1897 by Dutch immigrants, Nederland is unique from other Texas towns -- it contains a windmill, for starters, and it is home to the annual Nederland Heritage Festival. Downtown Nederland's main street, Boston Avenue, is also displayed in Dutch on street signs.
If you stroll down "Heeren Straats," you'll find terrific shops and restaurants housed in historic buildings. This is also the location of the festival, which began in 1973 and attracts more than 100,000 visitors for the art show, carnival rides, parade, and events. As for the windmill, this landmark is an exact replica of a Dutch windmill and is used as a museum. Inside the Dutch Windmill Museum, you'll find a unique mix of Western artifacts once owned by Tex Ritter, artifacts from Holland, and a gift shop.
Your Downtown Nederland apartment will be part of the region known as the Golden Triangle, which includes the cities of Port Arthur, Beaumont, and Orange. Downtown Nederland is convenient to Jack Brooks Regional Airport, Central Mall, the Shoppes at Port Arthur, and Babe Zaharias Golf Course.
As of April 2025, the average apartment rent in Downtown Nederland is $652 for a studio, $894 for one bedroom, $1,130 for two bedrooms, and $1,481 for three bedrooms. Apartment rent in Downtown Nederland has increased by 2.9% in the past year.

Nederland Texas is small and standard living which appeals more to me than a big city where you can surrounded by people yet still alone. I wouldn't change anything about Nederland. Its heart and soul are the neighborly residents

Nederland a great town to raise kids in. Where many places Ive lived across the country does nothing for community the area throws money into keeping kids active. Biggest problem with nederland now is growth from people trying to live there and it being almost land locked. But as a community they debate like most communities do but in the end all come together for the benefit of the community and kids. I can name places all across the country that do nothing for kids activities and the end results are bad from crime to drug abuse. Even when I travel for work and show people pictures and explain things they're shocked at how invested in kids the majority of midcounty area is. Great place for family

What I like about Nederland is the fact that going to a place to eat or shop only takes about 10-20 minutes on a normal day. There is a decent selection of restaurants to choose from and a mall in the town. One thing I would like to see in Nederland is having more places to go just to have something new to do.

I like Nederland because it is a quite, small town where everyone knows everyone. That just means it's a good community where people get along with everyone and can enjoy their company.
