I would say that my experience is East Flatbush has been pretty positive. I've lived here my whole life, born and raised, and I feel like I turned out fine. Of course there are stressors that come with living in NYC, however no matter where I go I always feel like theres no place like home.

I moved to East 43 st when I was 6 years old. That was 67 years ago. I left the house when I was 19, 1967...just married. My family had a very nice home. There were 3 brothers and one sister. The area was a mixture because we had a row of private homes . And across the street they had apts. It was a safe to live. We went to the movies on Utica Ave, it was the Rugby theatre. We ate pizza next door at little Venice. We all went to ps 235, then Winthrop Jr high. And finally we went to Erasmus Hall Hs. When our Mom passes away, we had to drive from Ft Lauderdale, Fl to Brooklyn. We we so happy since the lady who bought our house was nice enough to let us in. Once more time for me, and my husband had a chance to see where I grew up and my little bedroom. The only problems in the area were because of my 3 naughty brothers. Otherwise it was a wonderful area to live in. Ilene Falley
