The area that has become Faye Wright was originally inhabited by the Kalapuya Native American tribe. Trappers, missionaries and settlers began to arrive in the area in the early 1800s, and early settlers built settlements near the Willamette River. As transportation expanded, the city of Salem started to grow, and the Faye Wright neighborhood began to develop.

Learn more about the rich cultural history of the area when you visit Mission Mill Museum. The city of Salem hosts a number of interesting festivals and events year round. Public on-street parking is available throughout the neighborhood. Salem Area Mass Transit District services the area with regular routes as well as express buses that connect to the greater Portland area’s Trimet public transit system.
