It's a low-income place that tries to pass itself off as a tourist destination. The only thing tourists might come here to see is Wannamaker Park Still, the prices of apartments and housing are higher than they should be because of the non-existent tourists. Goose Creek is mostly dollar stores, gas stations, common restaurants, and worn houses.

Lived here my whole life, it was great growing up here. It is becoming very congested and very hard to find southern hospitality now that so many people are moving here. The crime I feel is getting worse, with shootings and meth. I personally am excited to move away.

I live in an older area of Goose Creek and the crime is bad. Lots of murders, meth heads, etc. I don't like constantly asking myself "were those fireworks or gun shots". I haven't experienced southern hospitality. I've heard locals constantly complain about people moving here, and especially with a dislike towards people moving here from Ohio.

Living in Goose Creek

History

-

Goose Creek was established in 1961, though its history dates back several centuries. During early colonial times, a group of colonists settled in a tributary of the Cooper River called Goose Creek. The Goose Creek men quickly became leaders in the early Indian trade. Many members of the Goose Creek men held important office in the colonial government. At first, most of the leaders dealt mainly in the Indian slave market, later converting to deerskin trading. As the times changed across the United States, this former trade market developed into an urbanized community with deep military ties.

In today’s world, Goose Creek proudly houses the Charleston Naval Shipyard, Naval Weapons Station Charleston and Joint Base Charleston. While the interesting history of Goose Creek has not led to museums in the area, the Otranto Plantation Indigo Vats and St. James Church rank on the National Register of Historic Places.
