Hills of Park North lies in the northeast region of San Antonio, a city that began as a Spanish settlement before becoming part of the American frontier. Railroads connected it to major cities in the late 19th century, leading to a growth in population and industry. Continued development throughout the 20th century added military bases, tourist attractions, businesses and neighborhoods to the city.

While the neighborhood doesn't have much of an arts scene, you can find art galleries throughout the rest of San Antonio.
