Hudson Yards is located along the Hudson River in NYC's West Side and is framed by 12th Avenue and the Lincoln Tunnel. Hell's Kitchen is to the north and Chelsea is to the south. The railyards were the ideal location for a new development -- or so the Metropolitan Transit Authority thought. In 2005, they proposed a mixed-use development that would be built over the railyard (still in use). The development would include 12 million square feet of office space, high-rise apartment buildings, shops, restaurants, and public spaces.

The project was put on hold temporarily during the financial crisis, which began around 2008. Groundbreaking finally took place on the first building in 2012. The building, 10 Hudson Yards, is anchored by Coach, Inc. and includes the Fairway grocery store, SAP, L'Oreal, shops, and a movie theater.

The Culture Shed is the arts and culture hub of the neighborhood, offering fashion design, live performances, art exhibits, and more. Just outside the neighborhood, New York's best Broadway shows await. Be sure to visit the Majestic Theater, the Imperial Theater, Al Hirschfeld Theater, and the Eugene O'Neill Theater.

As the hub of history and culture, New York provides some of the world's best museums and theaters -- and they are all close to your new apartment in Hudson Yard. Carnegie Hall, Radio City Music Hall, Rockefeller Center, Times Square, Lincoln Center, the Met ... now that you live in the Big Apple, you'll be able to explore them all

Settle into your Hudson Yards apartment and then head to the Red Cat to pamper yourself after a long day of moving. This beautiful restaurants features dishes nearly too pretty to eat -- be sure to enjoy a specialty cocktail with dinner.

The great thing about living in Hudson Yards is you'll be in the middle of New York's trendiest area. Nearby Chelsea Market offers some terrific restaurants and cafes, such as the Green Table. This terrific restaurant offers farm-to-table, organic dining. Even their beer and wine selection is organic and sustainable. If you love bread, stop by Co. and enjoy bread as the centerpiece of your meal.

You're in the heart of the City That Never Sleeps Of course New York's nightlife is plentiful and legendary. Check out the trendy nightclubs near Hudson Yards, such as Norwood, Le Bain, Marquee, and Tao Downtown. Musical performances and other events are also nearby at the Highline Ballroom. Just outside the neighborhood, you'll find the legendary Madison Square Garden, where you can catch a New York Rangers hockey game or watch the New York Nicks play basketball. The Javits Convention Center is located in the Hudson Yards neighborhood, providing a variety of events and exhibitions to enjoy.

As one of the nation's most pedestrian-friendly cities, getting around Manhattan is not only easy, it's fun The sidewalks are typically filled with business people, tourists, and locals all rushing from one place to another. The subway will take you anywhere in the New York area quickly and easily. In addition to its extensive subway system, New York is famous for its yellow cabs. Cycling around New York is also a popular mode of transportation.

Hudson Yards is home to a new subway station -- the 34th Street Station. This station opened in September 2015 and it connects Hudson Yards with Times Square.

Parks

Hudson Park covers six blocks between 33rd and 39th Streets. This park features a walking path, fountains, benches, a playground, wide lawns and landscaping, and a cafe. The park features a non-motorized boathouse in Tribeca for kayaks and paddleboards. A restaurant on the harbor and a 650-foot pier will also be included in the park.

The High Line extends nearly two miles and is a linear rails-to-trails park. This park features fantastic city and river views as well as a walking/jogging trail, benches, landscaped greenspace, and public artwork.

And, of course, "The" park, arguably one of the most famous parks in the world -- Central Park -- is less than two miles from Hudson Yards. After moving to your apartment in Hudson Yards, travel north along 8th Avenue to arrive at the park. This route will take you past the Broadway Theatre, the Gershwin Theater, the Majestic Theater, and the Imperial Theater. Central Park is home to the Central Park Zoo, the historic Tavern on the Green, the Loeb Boathouse, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Belvedere Castle, Shakespeare Garden, the American Museum of Natural History, and a variety of walking paths and gardens.

Living in Manhattan is expensive in general, and rents tend to be even higher in the newer Hudson Yards area. In nearby Chelsea, rents average about $1,500. You won't need a car living in NYC, so that's an added benefit and a cut in costs. By choosing a planned live-work-play neighborhood like Hudson Yards, you may not even need to take the subway -- work could be just outside your door.

As the center of everything from fashion to art to finance, New York is considered a global power city. It is the headquarters of the UN, home to Wall Street and the Financial District, and the location of New York University, Columbia University, and Rockefeller University.

Hudson Yards is the global headquarters of Coach, Inc. and is home to the city's only Neiman Marcus. With roughly 100 shops opening in Hudson Yards, this neighborhood is poised to become one of the world's top shopping destinations. The Hudson Yards Retail Space will include the Fairway grocery store, Dior, Chanel, H&M, and Zara.

A wealth of shopping is located just outside the neighborhood, especially along Avenue of the Americas. Here you'll find the Manhattan Mall, Whole Foods Market, Limelight, Marshalls, West Elm, Dave's New York, and a variety of other boutiques and specialty shops.
