Downtown Honolulu sits a mere five miles west, via Interstate Highway 1 or the local transportation system, TheBus. Cyclists and pedestrians find this area safe, welcoming, and very bikeable and walkable. Dimond Head State Monument, locally known as Leahi, forms the southern border of the neighborhood. Locals and tourists alike make the climb to the top of the dormant volcanic crater to enjoy spectacular views of Waikiki, Downtown Honolulu, and beyond. Next to the crater, you’ll find Kapiolani Regional Park, bordering the Waikiki resort area and its beautiful beaches.

Right on the edge of the neighborhood you’ll find the Kahala Mall, filled with mainland and local-style stores, along with one of Oahu’s largest multiplex movie theaters. Countless restaurants and shops sit nearby in Waikiki, including the local hangout Leonard’s Bakery and its famous malasadas, a type of Portuguese donut.
