Situated on Maui’s northwestern coast, Lahaina is one of the most historic towns in Hawaii. Formerly the capital of Hawaii, Lahaina was the center of the global whaling trade in the mid-1800s. Lahaina’s historic district is a National Historic Landmark, exuding the feel of a traditional Hawaiian seaport with numerous well-preserved buildings.

Lahaina residents and visitors flock to the vibrant Front Street, which is teeming with restaurants, cafes, shops, art galleries, and museums. Front Street is also the site of Lahaina’s world-famous Halloween celebration known as the Mardi Gras of the Pacific. Plenty of beautiful parks, trails, and beaches offer abundant recreational activities, such as hiking, surfing, snorkeling, swimming, fishing, boating, scuba diving, and whale watching. Getting around from Lahaina is easy with access to the Honoapi’ilani Highway and the Kahului Airport.
