Lake Hopatcong occupies four square miles of pristine northern New Jersey landscape, but it’s the communities that surround the lake that really give the area its character. There are affordable apartments just a few minutes from the lake, and imposing rentals on the waters edge. During the summer, Lake Hopatcong is a vibrant locale full of residents and visitors who occupy all the restaurants, shops, and marinas at the north end of the lake. During the winter, ice fishing becomes a popular undertaking. The hilly terrain that surrounds Lake Hopatcong makes for a unique atmosphere for the neighborhoods along its shores. There’s a number of good schools that serve residents of the area, but State Route 15 is nearby should you need to or want to head into one of the larger neighboring communities.
