History

Landings shares Fort Lauderdale's notable history. Until the 20th century, the area remained undeveloped. The Florida land boom in the 1920s drastically changed things by incorporating residential neighborhoods that remain today. The unfortunate natural disasters, including the 1926 Miami Hurricane and the 1947 Fort Lauderdale Hurricane, destroyed houses and businesses and devastated the area. Perseverance allowed the city to overcome these hard times. By 1950, the neighborhoods developed again and became magnificent vacation spots for travelers bringing in revenue to the city.
