Houston is one of the best cities in the US to find a job, and to settle down with a family in a stable matter. Do not need to say much more than that.

Although there are some areas with very nice real-estate, for the most part the properties are rundown and unkempt. Unfortunately, because of the proximity to downtown and the more fancy houses, many of these properties are overpriced. For renting, however, prices tend to be in the lower range, but for a reason. Many of the rental properties are old or out-dated and reside in areas where many people would not feel secure.

The public transit is improving from it's abysmal state before. There are a lot of public services in close proximity such as clinics, hospitals, government assistance offices, and fire and police stations.
