There’s something for everyone in this historic oceanfront community

Ocean Beach Coastal Upscale Affordable Scenic Tourism Historic

Margate City is a charming Jersey Shore community on Absecon Island, right down the street from Atlantic City. Most of the city is residential, with a few small clusters of shops and restaurants along Ventnor Avenue—stop into Gilchrist Downbeach Restaurant for breakfast and your morning coffee, or swing by Shuckers on a special occasion for the legendary stuffed lobster tail. Magrate City is an extremely popular tourist destination in the summer months, and is home to the famous Lucy the Elephant, a 65-foot tall novelty roadside attraction that dates back to 1881. Rental rates vary considerably across town, with some units (including beachfront condos) going for under $800 and numerous upscale properties in the mix as well.
