This northern New Jersey suburb consistently ranks as one of the best places to raise a family in the state, no doubt thanks to its incredible natural surroundings and rentals. On the southern edge of Mountain Lakes is U.S. Highway 46. Lined with restaurants, cafes, inns, and more, this is where most locals hang out or grab a bite to eat. There are some incredible schools that serve the residents of Mountain Lakes, but the real calling card of this borough is its idyllic surroundings and charming historic district. Interstate 280 is just south, putting Newark just a 30-minute drive away, and New York City just beyond that.
