History

-

The area that comprises modern-day Northgate was once entirely agricultural land. It also served as a major stop for railways, and farmers would bring in their produce to ship it to other cities to sale. Very few houses existed until after World War II, when a major population influx resulted in a significant increase in housing developments.

You can relive this history by visiting the Museum of Local History in Fremont, which houses Indian artifacts and items from the pioneer days. Also visit the museum at Mission San Jose, one of the Spanish missions in California, an essential part of understanding the history of the state.

The Fremont Cultural Arts Council hosts many events throughout the year, including an art show in Shinn Park and a juried photography contest. Explore galleries of local art at the Olive Hyde Art Guild, which has frequently rotating exhibitions.

Daily lunch specials make the restaurant a great place to sit down and enjoy lunch.
