Root for the Bulldogs in your black and gold

BSU Bowie State Bulldogs Public HBCU Welcoming Diverse Innovative Historic Dynamic Intimate

Established in 1865, Bowie State University is Maryland’s oldest historically black college or university. Bowie State serves a diverse student body while honoring its heritage of providing access to higher education for underrepresented populations, with a continuing commitment to African Americans. The supportive academic environment at BSU allows students to think critically, make new discoveries, value differences, and emerge as leaders in a highly technological and interdependent world.

A number of houses and townhomes are available for rent within close proximity to the BSU campus. Commuting to campus from farther distances is simple with access to the Baltimore-Washington Parkway, Route 197, and the MARC commuter rail.

Bowie State exudes a stimulating campus atmosphere with more than 90 student clubs and organizations, NCAA Division II Bulldog athletics, lecture series, cultural fairs and festivals, concerts, intramural sports, and special events. Located in the midst of one of the nation’s most exciting metropolitan areas, BSU is within an hour’s drive of Baltimore, Annapolis, and Washington, DC.
