Established in 1909, North Carolina Central University is a major contributor to the region’s academic community and one of the top-rated Historically Black Colleges and Universities in the nation. NCCU is highly regarded for aspects as diverse as its biotechnology research capabilities, its School of Law, and its art museum. The university’s Jazz Studies program is a major player in Durham’s cultural scene, organizing free concerts and workshops for the community.
