An iconic institution in the heart of Nebraska’s capital city

Public Urban Walkable UNL NU Huskers Cornhuskers Historic Big Ten

Since its inception in 1869, the University of Nebraska – Lincoln has built a reputation for excellent educational resources and a strong emphasis on practical research. The campus sits right in Downtown Lincoln and serves as a major intellectual and cultural engine for the city and the region.

The Cornhuskers are among the most popular college football teams in the Midwest, and home games at Memorial Stadium regularly pack in more people than some of Nebraska’s larger cities. The urban setting of the main campus allows the collegiate community and the populace of the city to intermingle closely: students and faculty can easily walk downtown for a cup of coffee at The Mill, a cocktail at The Happy Raven, or a show at the Bourbon Theatre, while locals regularly come to campus for sporting events, art exhibits at the Sheldon Museum, and performances at the Lied Center.

You’ll find the highest concentration of apartments, condos, and rental houses in the neighborhoods south of O Street, with numerous highly-affordable options within easy walking distance of the university and downtown.
