Rider University, established in 1865, is considered one of the best universities in the northern region. Rider is a top-tier, private university and is considered selective. Top majors include Psychology, Business Administration and Management, Education, and Finance. The Rider Broncs participate in NCAA Division I as part of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Located in the Lawrence Township section of Lawrenceville, students enjoy a beautiful, wooded community only about five miles north of Trenton. The picturesque campus borders Centennial Lake, which is lined with walking paths and flowering trees. A pedestrian bridge over a creek connects the campus to the other side of the lake. Lawrence Township is a historic town, settled in 1697 as Maidenhead Township.
