Established in 1831, Xavier is one of the oldest Jesuit universities in the United States, and the first Catholic college to be established in former Northwest Territory. Today, Xavier is recognized as one of the top universities in the Midwest, with exceptionally low student-to-teacher ratios and noteworthy programs in finance, entrepreneurship, and business among its top offerings.
The Xavier campus is positioned in a mostly residential section of northeast Cincinnati, surrounded by suburban neighborhoods and parks. Apartments, condos, and rental houses are plentiful in this area, and it’s not uncommon to find affordable living arrangements just a short walk away from the university. The popular Rookwood Commons mall sits just a few blocks to the east, and several smaller shopping centers are nearby as well.
The larger University of Cincinnati is just down the road, surrounded by a vast assortment of restaurants, bars, and music venues catering to the college crowd. Downtown is only a few minutes away, offering an even bigger selection of dining, shopping, nightlife, and culture.
