Established in 1848, Rhodes College has a long history of academic excellence and is recognized today as one of the most highly-ranked liberal arts colleges in the country. Serving a small student body of around 2,000, Rhodes provides an intimate scholarly environment with a timeless campus filled by Gothic stone buildings. The campus culture emphasizes community service, with most students participating in some form of volunteer work. The annual Rites of Spring music festival on campus is a major event for both the college crowd and the community at large.
The Rhodes campus occupies a largely residential section of Midtown Memphis, right across the street from the Memphis Zoo and Overton Park.
