Route 95 makes up Pittman’s southern border, so traveling across Las Vegas is made easy. Pittman features a variety of moderately priced mid-rise apartments and townhomes for rent. West Las Vegas was an important transportation town for miners in 1905. With the construction of the Hoover Dam in the 30s, the city became more diverse and continued to grow as the nation's gambling capital grew, creating more jobs.

Just south of Highway 95 lies The Nevada State Museum, a large Springs Preserve museum exploring Nevada's history via dioramas, artifacts and interactives. You'll find many interesting museums near Fremont Street, such as The Mob Museum, which uses interactive exhibits to tell the history of organized crime in Las Vegas.

In terms of an art scene, the Discovery Children's Museum features interactive exhibits exploring art for kids. Additionally, the Contemporary Arts Center exhibits modern art with mixed media, installations, workshops, lectures and seasonal events.

While you won't find a central restaurant location, the types of restaurants directly surrounding Pittman include mostly fast food chains such as McDonald's and Subway. One exception would be Sorrento Pizza which stands to be an affordable option when out late; locals especially enjoy the Philly cheesesteak pizza and buffalo wings.

The go-to Thai spot in the area would be Thai Taste Restaurant with fantastic lunch specials that remain light on your wallet. The modest eatery has easy online carry-out and delivery options as well as great customer service. Some notable dishes served here include yellow curry, beef basil, Mongolian beef and the chicken coconut curry.

Featured on The Food Network, Four Kegs Sports Pub will always remain the neighborhood restaurant and tavern of choice for residents as Las Vegas' original sports bar. This establishment made its name serving up award-winning stromboli and amazing Philly cheesesteaks along with daily specials. Between the huge television screens and top notch gaming, this 24-hour hot spot never disappoints.

Of course, you can always head down to the Las Vegas Strip or Fremont Street for a more upbeat nightlife. One of the more popular night clubs on The Strip, TAO Las Vegas at The Venetian, features everything from nightclubs to restaurants. You'll even see a lounge pool club which frequently attracts celebrities. For more fun, try visiting Old Las Vegas and experiencing the bars, clubs and casinos, and take in The Fremont Street Experience.

Residents generally use their cars to get around town however, some residents use the bus lines; you'll find 4 stops positioned on the north and east sides of the neighborhood. Furthermore, hailing a cab is not an option, but you can call ahead to reserve a cab or partake in Uber ride sharing.

Public parking in Pittman has always been widely available at no cost, and access to highway 95 and the Bruce Woodbury Beltway can be fairly simple. If you prefer walking or bike riding, then you're in luck as the community is lined with sidewalks and bike lanes.

There are a few parks positioned around the neighborhood. East of Pittman, Ed Fountain Park features baseball, football and soccer fields; the park also includes a BMX racecourse and a covered playground. To the west, Coleman Park provides a small playground and a large grassy area with trees for pickup sports games. On the north side, a shaded playground and a large grassy area known as Wildwood Park await residents. Las Vegas also houses a multitude of golf courses, the closest one to Pittman happens to be a beautifully landscaped course in Summerlin.

Residents and visitors often head out to Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, only 15 minutes west of Pittman. A Las Vegas landmark, this natural phenomenon covered in red rocks draws in those looking to hike, rock climb or go for a scenic afternoon drive.

The cost of living in Pittman is lower than the Las Vegas average as the median rental rate for a one bedroom stands at $589 per month. A pint of beer will be considerably cheaper in this area than on The Strip or Fremont. In the more densely populated areas on a Friday or Saturday night, a pint of beer could cost more than $10, but in Pittman, you can expect to pay about half that.

Gas prices in the neighborhood stand 7 percent above the national average. If residents use the public transportation bus lines they receive a reduced rate. A one-stop pass to Downtown Las Vegas from Pittman only costs $1; a 24-hour pass to any of the stops costs $2.50.

Meadows Mall continues to be the closest major shopping area to Pittman. The sizable plaza has well-known department stores providing clothing, home goods, beauty, technology and toy stores. Charleston Antique Mall sits as a huge emporium specializing in vintage clothes, collectibles, antique furniture, accessories, housewares and other fun finds.

When looking for a great deal, head to Las Vegas North Premium Outlets where you can find high-end merchandise at a discounted price. The large mall contains 150 shops of designer and household brands in clothing, accessories, leather and gifts. The Fashion Show Mall is the place to go for a large selection of upscale stores including Neiman Marcus, Guess, Apple Store and even a massive high-value Forever 21.

There are a number of one-of-a-kind boutiques south of Highway 95 carrying a variety of apparel, accessories and gifts for just about every personality. One in particular being Chic Cache, a fun and colorful boutique providing a large selection of sunglasses, handbags, and accessories. Bra Boutique, off of Sahara Avenue, sells affordable lingerie accommodating everyone from full-figured and petite women to ladies with pregnancy and hospice needs. Furthermore, a larger selection of speciality stores can be found over by the Strip and Fremont Street.

Albertsons and Smith's are the local supermarkets. Residents can even shop at the Brent Park Farmer's Market, located five minutes west, every Wednesday between 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
