History

-

Boston is one of the nation's most historic cities and one of the first to be settled by colonists. Leading up to and during the American Revolution, Boston was the site of many decisive battles and tide-changing events. Paul Revere took his famous ride through the streets of Boston to warn of the British invasion.

After the war, Boston became a vital port city to the US and the world. It allowed America to increase its trade with other nations and create an abundance of wealth. Over the years, the city also became a leader in manufacturing and a sort of Mecca for artists and intellectuals. Its long list of famous residents greatly influenced political events and shaped America's philosophy over the years.

The neighborhood is home to the prestigious Noble and Greenough School, a private nonsectarian day and 5-day boarding high school, which ranks as one of the top high schools in the United States.

Restaurants

-

The diversity of the neighborhood is certainly reflected in its offering of restaurants and entertainment. Kouzina Estiatorio is a perfect stop for authentic Greek and Mediterranean food. The restaurant is simple and understated, and they are low-tech enough to not even bother with a website. Their success is the result of good food, happy customers and old-fashioned word-of-mouth advertising. When your lamb is seasoned and cooked to perfection, it speaks for itself.

For traditional Italian food done right, stop by Vincenzo’s Italian Deli and Specialty Store. Choose from award-winning sub and salads or a generous helping of eggplant Parmesan. The menu is full of all the usual Italian favorites and will provide the perfect comfort food on a cold Boston night.

Grab a beer at the Yard House, and use the city's public transportation to go explore the city. While the actual Riverside neighborhood comes up a little short when it come to entertainment, you have the entire city of Boston at your fingertips. Catch a baseball game at historic Fenway Park or head out to the harbor to take in the views.
