Situated in the northwestern corner of New Mexico, Shiprock is a friendly desert community where everyone knows your name. Wide open spaces are filled with charming apartment communities and homes, and there’s a selection of regional food and national chains along U.S. Highway 64. Shiprock is the home of the annual Northern Navajo Fair as well as the Shiprock Marathon and Relay since 1984.
Casinos are a big draw for the area, as is the Canyon of the Ancients, just north of Shiprock. Many residents work in the medical field thanks to the Northern Navajo Medical Center that calls the area home. It’s easy to explore Arizona, Utah, and Colorado thanks to Shiprock’s location near the Four Corners.
