History

Savannah has a long history as a coastal gem of the south. The Skyland Terrace-Greenway Park-Grove Park neighborhood, located in central Savannah, became home to the Hunter Army Airfield in 1929 and Oglethorpe Mall in 1969. The community's population tends to be younger, partly due to the South University-Savannah and Troy University campuses in the Skyland Terrace neighborhood.

Many Savannah museums can be found in the downtown district near the Savannah River. Massie Heritage Center, a child-friendly exhibition museum, features information about the city's architecture and culture. This establishment charges a $7 admission fee for adults and $5 for children.

The Oglethorpe Gallery features the works of diverse contemporary artists and entertains members of the public with rotating exhibits. Artists and members of the public can rent the gallery for exhibitions and special events. Admission varies.

Every March, historic homes of Savannah open their doors and gardens to the public for the Annual Savannah Tour.

Start with an order of bean dip and sour cream for the table to get your lunch or dinner time celebration started, and end with a serving of flan or a chimi cheese cake.

Allyanna's Olde Style Pizzeria serves some of the finest pizzeria entrées in Grove Park. The family-owned establishment welcomes every guest and invites them to hearty appetizers and freshly baked pizzas loaded with toppings.
