Washington D.C’s upscale suburb is one of the region’s friendliest communities

Upscale Park-Like Family-Friendly Walkable Commuter

Known for its park-like surroundings with an urban feel, Somerset is an upscale suburb excellent for families looking to raise children in a close-knit community. Lined with contemporary mansions, modern homes, and historic Victorians, the streets are safe with a train station and bus stops for commuters within walking distance. The schools are great as well. However, Somerset’s friendly, welcoming sense of community makes the town stand apart. Somerset has a huge focus on being a friendly neighbor. The Helping Hands program is powered by volunteers who help residents who need assistance with running errands and home projects. Every year the town hosts the Newcomers’ Welcome, a party for all new residents at the neighborhood pool and award-winning clubhouse. Somerset also host an annual community service day and collects non-perishable foods for homeless shelters and pet toys for the Humane Society.

The residents in the area embrace an active, healthy lifestyle and outdoor recreations are popular. Somerset has several tennis courts, basketball courts, batting cages, and a pool for residents to enjoy. The Capital Crescent Trail runs through town and is great for bikers and hikers. The area is close to several shopping centers for a shopping spree. The Collection at Chevy Chase is only five minutes out of town and offers designer retailers over an entire block. Somerset is only 20 minutes from D.C. so going into the city for restaurants, bars, museums, and entertainment is common.
