Unfortunately anywhere in Miami, Florida you are going to run into traffic. But since the Covid pandemic, it has been better. Prices in Miami are super expensive at this time, unless you go to a lower income area. We have never had problems with any neighbors, and it is a family friendly area.

History

-

South Miami Heights shares a history with Miami-Dade County. The first known people to settle in the area were the Tequesta Native American tribe. When European settlers invaded in the early 19th century, the Second Seminole War broke out. The war led to loss of population in Miami, but it re-established itself in the 1840s with the assistance of William English. Since 2000, the population in South Miami Heights has increased by over 10 percent.

Many museums lie outside of South Miami Heights in Homestead. The Coral Castle showcases the beauty of a local historic landmark, with amazing sculptures and a serene landscape. Restaurants

-

Enjoy a night out on the town by dining at one of the several restaurants that surround the neighborhood. Head out to Shiver's BBQ in Homestead for some tantalizing barbecue ribs and chicken or some luscious beef brisket and pulled pork. Many items on the menu have been slow cooked for over 12 hours to ensure tender meat in every bite.

Locals indulge in Caribbean and American food at Chefs on the run. Start off with the cheese balls and order a juicy, breaded steak for the main entrée. The pork noodles and the pork with mofongo and asparagus make appetizing choices as well. They do not sell alcohol, but you can bring your own, which really makes the meal affordable.

When you crave authentic Mexican cuisine, head out to El Rincon de Jalisco. Customers love the burrito mojado and bacon-wrapped shrimp with Mexican cheese. Others feast on a steak or chicken burrito. With so many tasty options to choose from, it's no wonder why people come back for more.

Homestead Bayfront Park Marina provides awesome fishing opportunities and amazing trails to run or take a walk.
