It's either extremely hot & humid, or just hot, during the summer. During the rainy season, severe thunderstorms occur often. The winter isn't too bad, but in recent years snow & ice have thrown things out of balance.

Cost of living can vary, but cheaper than a large percentage of other metro areas. I'd stay or move back if I found the right place for me at that stage of my life.
