The ground breaking for Sterling Ridge took place in 1999, making it a relatively new addition to the Woodlands community. Just one phase of a master-planned community begun in 1974 by Mr. George Mitchell with land bought from the Grogan Cochran Lumber Company, Sterling Ridge earned its name due to opening on the 25th anniversary of the Woodlands.

Professional golf legend Gary Player played a large role in the development of Sterling Ridge. One of the central features of the neighborhood, the Gary Player Golf Course, was designed with his expertise and insight.

The art scene is alive and well in downtown Houston, and the same is true for Sterling Ridge. National and regional artists are showcased annually at the Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival. Covered tents line the sidewalks of the Town Center, and your small admission gains you access to the best visual and performing artists Houston has to offer.

Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion hosts many annual events for the whole family. Showers of fireworks light the night sky each Fourth of July at the Red, Hot and Blue Festival, and children from each Village of the Woodlands gather each November for the annual Children's Festival.

Travel by car is the name of the game in Sterling Ridge, and there is access to Fm 2978. Keeping with the theme of luxury, Sterling Ridge residents have access to their own limousine service. Reservations are available to and from the nearby George Bush Intercontinental Airport, but if your transportation needs are closer to home the Woodlands Express, the district's public transit option, offers a Park and Ride station on McBeth Way.Taxis are abundant near the Waterway.

One of the most prominent features of Sterling Ridge is the abundance of parks within its borders. Situated on 6.9 square miles of woodlands, it serves as a prime location for the most scenic and family-friendly parks in Texas.

Home to the largest BMX style all-dirt track in the country, Cranebrook Park has earned a reputation as a playground for bike enthusiasts. The park offers free admission and grants access to 10 picnic tables, a shade-covered pavilion, three barbecue pits and some of the best-maintained tennis courts around. If weather permits, take a dip in the on-site pool, but you can enjoy the natural surroundings no matter what the temperature is.

If skateboarding is more your style, visit Terramont park on the north side of the village. Equipped with a skate park for public use and the village's only Frisbee golf course, Terramont Park can provide your family with hours of outdoor fun. Don't leave your furry friends at home, as Terramont park also offers a small dog park where your canine can run and play.
