Sugar City is tucked in a flatland area that just southwest of Yellowstone National Park. As a result, locals get to enjoy easy access to the national park, just over the border in Wyoming as well as access to the city of Idaho Falls to the south. Residents can easily go hiking, boating, camping, and exploring in one of the most amazing natural parks in the country. Outside of the national park areas there is also plenty of wilderness in which residents can enjoy wildlife watching and activities like horseback riding. During the winter, Sugar City is in close proximity to some of the major snow centers for skiing, snowboarding and snowmobiling.

Additionally, residents also enjoy town tennis courts and baseball fields for outdoor sports, and the town is in close proximity to Brigham Young University-Idaho, which has its own sports facilities for students to use. The nature of the region’s topography also makes it a prime location for long-distance bike riding during the warm months.
