An additional 1,000 acres of environmentally sensitive land was added to Summerlin in 2002 through an exchange between the Bureau of Land Management and the Howard Hughes Corporation. Since its founding, Summerlin has flourished into a full-blown community housing more than 150 villages and neighborhood parks, numerous shopping centers and several business parks.
