History

-

The areas around Addison, Carrollton and Farmers Branch were originally settled in the 1840s by English farmers. The towns began as farming communities, but became industrial hubs after the construction of the Dallas-Wichita railroad in the late 1870s. The cities grew independent of Dallas, hosting grain and gravel businesses, flour mills, cotton plants and a dairy industry. By the 1970s the city of Dallas had begun to sprawl, and the cities became proper suburbs.

The city of Addison is host to multiple festivals and events throughout the year, including a huge fireworks display on the Fourth of July, called Boomtown. The University of North Texas in Addison provides residents with art, music and cultural events as well as "Taste Addison," a food exposition.

The casual restaurant also makes in-house horchata, a traditional beverage that hits the spot for thirsty diners. This represents the place to go for a quick lunch or snack in North Dallas.

If a night on the town seems like your idea of a good time, Stone Trail in the nearby town of Addison marks a local hot spot for partygoers. This bar caters to a more mature crowd of mostly 30- and 40-somethings looking to mingle, dance and enjoy a cocktail. A combination live band and DJ play mostly older jams with a few new hits thrown into the mix. You can order standard bar food, but most people come for the dancing.
