Living in Tuttle West

History

-

Settlers established Dublin in 1810. It remained a small village for nearly 200 years before an influx of corporate headquarters sparked the substantial suburban growth it now enjoys. The Tuttle West neighborhood lies in the southwest portion of the area and is primarily residential and farmland.

Dublin sponsors the largest three-day Irish Festival in the world. For the past 27 years the first weekend in August attracts more than 100,000 guests to enjoy 7 stages, 65 acts and more than 535 performers as well as handmade Celtic arts and crafts and multitudes of food vendors.

Just outside the boundaries of Tuttle West, at the corner of Rings and Avery Road, stands a unique public art installation. Composed of 109 giant concrete ears of corn 6 feet tall and weighing 1,500 pounds each, this sculpture garden symbolizes the history of the community’s farming legacy.

Restaurants

-

The Tuttle West neighborhood is centrally located in the northwest suburbs and features a variety of restaurants. Be sure to try Matt the Miller's Tavern on Avery Muirfield Drive in Dublin.

A comfortable and upscale neighborhood tavern with a lot of dark woods, booths and a contemporary feel, the Tavern offers a very comfortable place to dine. The spacious bar, surrounded by four large flat screen televisions, attracts a crowd on game days, while 14 premium draft beers and great weekly specials bring folks in the rest of the week. The Miller's Original Flatbreads are appetizers that won't disappoint; try the fig and prosciutto for a classic sweet and salty taste. It's a garlic oil rubbed flatbread, baked with goat cheese and fig spread, then topped with prosciutto, arugula and shaved Parmesan cheese.

The Brazenhead, a traditional Irish pub in the heart of Old Dublin, was named after the oldest pub in Dublin, Ireland. The owners made a superb effort to build an authentic Irish pub in Ohio. Nearly everything inside the pub either came from Ireland, or is closely based on artifacts found there. The bar itself came from Ireland, as did the drawing room fireplace. As befitting an Irish Pub the drinks menu is longer than the food menu but that doesn't mean the food is not tempting. Try a Brazen Burger with a handful of bacon fried almonds, rosemary and sea salt. Wash it all down with a glass of Glenmorangie Scotch or any one of the other drinks available on the extensive liquor menu. If beer is more to your liking, raise a glass of stout from the remarkable beer menu This is a great place to sample the local nightlife with music every Thursday through Saturday night.

If beer is important to you, try the 101 Beer Kitchen on Sawmill Road in Dublin. Along with a seemingly endless selection of craft beers, the 101 Beer Kitchen utilizes local ingredients in its varied menu. Try the duck confit quesadilla to start your meal, then move on to trout almondine or seared Scottish salmon. Finish it all off with a chai spice creme brulee or butter pecan cupcake. The 101 Beer Kitchen sponsors a series of beer dinners each year that combine local craft beers with an amazing menu.
