Vashon Island is rated the #1 liberal city/town in the United States. People on Vashon will make you feel at home right away with their warm charm and quirky attitude. The Island's main attraction is nature. There is countless parks, trails, and beaches that you can spend all day in and make you forget that civilization even exists. Get away from the busy city and take a short commute of 10-20 minutes on the Washington State Ferries to this haven. There is always great local entertainment, food, and views to experience.

Vashon is a small rural island, a ferry ride away from Seattle. I like the warmth of the people. It is beautiful. It is a politically active community with great schools and a brand new library. I wish there were more waterfront restaurants.

This is a very safe island with little in the way of crime. Police are visible and often patrolling so there aren't many concerns regarding safety.

Vashon Island is an amazing place to raise a family as it is safe, has good schools that prepare students for college, and is full of forests and nature for people to explore. I would live here again later in life to raise a family. Compared to the rest of the country it is a very open and liberal place that accepts all types of people. For the future I see a community that is close with one another and will be outspoken about what changes need to be made for the good of the island.
