This scenic neighborhood stretches along the coast, roughly six miles southeast of Downtown Honolulu. Nestled next to the dazzling Diamond Head State Monument, Waialae-Kahala is an upscale locale where many rentals place you within walking distance of the beach. Sink your toes into the sand at Diamond Head Beach, Kahala Beach, Kapiolani Regional Park, or Waialae Beach, or find your spot under a wind-sculpted palm tree and enjoy the ocean breeze. For some of the most stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and Honolulu, head to the top of Diamond Head State Monument -- a gorgeous 300,000-year-old crater that proves a challenging (but well worth it) hike.
It may be difficult to tear yourself away from Oahu's world-famous beaches, but when you do, you'll discover a variety of amazing restaurants and shops to explore. Waialae-Kahala is also near the Honolulu Zoo, the Waikiki Aquarium, Kahala Mall, and Kapi'olani Community College. The University of Hawaii at Manoa and Charminade University are a few minutes west of the neighborhood as well.
