Though the neighborhoods in Columbus aren't all clearly defined and often run into each other, the small neighborhood of Walnut Creek features local natural beauty and close to activity in nearby neighborhoods.

Part of the natural land preservation in the Columbus area Walnut Creek is a neighborhood linked to Big Walnut Creek, one of the greatest central Ohio natural locations. With the Friends of Big Walnut Creek promoting local natural preservation and connection with the Historical Society, there is much to be said for the neighborhood connection to nature as a whole.

Also containing locally beloved Champions Golf Course there is much more to be said of natural preservation within Walnut Creek. Known for its foliage and landscaping the Champions is the most loved city-owned course in the Columbus area.

Cooper’s Hawk Winery, known for its menu and cocktails alike, also features wine and cheese tastings regularly. Locals love the pretzel bread and calamari appetizer at Cooper’s for both lunch and dinner. Northstar Café resides in Easton, providing a variety of traditional and vegetarian menu items to suit customer taste. Walnut Creek lies between I-71 and U.S. 62 within the I-270 outer belt, a few miles north of I-670 with easy highway access for commute to downtown work. While there are many surrounding taxi and limousine transportation services for scheduled rides from Walnut Creek, including Uber. There is popular use of the bus service for public transportation all over the county. While there are local taxi and shuttle services from Walnut Creek to all areas of Columbus, as well as plenty of other services from the surrounding area back home to Walnut Creek. As a small residential community Walnut Creek provides simple transportation throughout the neighborhood, including the ability to walk or bike around the neighborhood. Sidewalks are convenient to the homes, providing access to the surrounding streets with restaurants, shops and other active locations.

Walnut Creek is within the Metro Parks area of the Central Ohio Park System, especially close to Walnut Woods Metro Park. This park contains two separate dog parks for large and small dogs, a doggie swimming pool, and a children’s play area near the picnic shelters with grills. With hiking and biking trails available to enjoy park beauty, with access to fishing and boating as well.

The Greater Columbus area contains many more parks connected with both Ohio State University and the Metro Parks, including Inniswood Metro Gardens and Whetstone Park of Roses. Inniswood contains many paths for walking, streams and waterfalls for a beautiful view, and treehouses within the play areas for children. While entry is free, membership to the Inniswood Garden Society helps park development. Whetstone Park of Roses provides a variety of beautiful flowers for viewing and hiking and biking trails throughout the area for a fun day among nature. Whetstone Park of Roses also offers annual free concerts from May through August.

This independent store provide home decor, along with holiday and food specialties for decorating and cooking. A few miles away, the Smith Farm Market has a bakery, fresh fruits and veggies, and both flowering and vegetable plants.

Though Walnut Creek is a largely residential community with only the golf course there, you can find warehouses and outlets in nearby Easton and Northland on each side to the east and west. In many of the other north Columbus villages, there are unique clothing boutiques available, such as Pitaya and Tigertree, all selling specialty clothing. Browse in Easton and Northland, only a mile each direction, for women's clothing, jewelry, and lingerie.
