The city is almost completely surrounded by water, sitting on the northern edge of Boston Harbor and connected to the mainland only by a narrow isthmus and the Saratoga Street Bridge. As one of the oldest settlements in Massachusetts, Winthrop is full of beautifully-preserved historic architecture, from the batteries of Fort Banks to the iconic Edward B.
