Beloved for its proximity to both the Jersey Shore and New York City, the central region of Middlesex County sits about 40 miles southwest of Midtown Manhattan. Nearby New Brunswick, home to Rutgers University, provides access to a rich, local arts and culture hub. This neighborhood is ideal for those seeking a quiet, suburban setting not far removed from nearby entertainment and amenities. Mid- and low-rise apartment communities in the northern section of the neighborhood give way to more single-family homes fit for a variety of renters. Interstate 95 and a host of other thoroughfares make commuting around the area a breeze.

Property Ratings at Lofts at Helmetta
Do NOT move here! It is micromanaged and an extremely uncomfortable living situation even if you follow all of the rules and keep to yourself IF you are not welcome here you will know it. It is not luxury living by any means things fall apart in my apartment all the time..steel towel holder and toilet paper holder are made out of plastic and will fall down. Ceilings will leak, outlet covers fall off the wall, dishwasher doesn't work well..windows are extremely drafty so get ready for a huge electric bill. Screens are not secure and bugs move into your window so when you open the window for some fresh air they will make their way in. Stink bugs are invasive. Lady bugs too. Do not send an expensive package here it will get lost without a trace. Floors are so thin that you can hear every move and conversation of the people around you. The windows do not allow any light into the apartment you are living in a cave and will be depressed. Need a cart to bring your stuff upstairs? Good luck finding one there are only 5 if that for hundreds of residents.
The place is nice, maintenance team of 2 is probably too small for as big a place as it is, but they are friendly and get things done in a timely manor. Never had any issues with them, the problem is the office manager. She lost our paperwork, and blamed us. She is rude and unprofessional. She gossips everyone's business to everyone. I have not heard a single person that lives here say anything nice about her. She is terrible.
I am more than a little confused by all of the negative ratings that the Lofts at Helmetta has received. I moved in on Feb. 1st, 2019 and cannot say enough positive, wonderful things about my experience here thus far. The building (lobby, hallways, common areas etc.) and grounds are kept impeccably. The leasing staff, property manager and live in maintenance staff have all been so friendly, helpful, kind and welcoming. They have all gone above and beyond to answer my questions and have been extremely patient with me as sometimes I can be unintentionally "difficult." The residents of the building have all been extremely welcoming as well. Daily, I am met with smiling faces and friendly hellos in passing by. Elevator rides are always filled with friendly small talk. The hallways are quiet, I have often wondered If I am the only one that lives on my floor lol As far as noise, this is an apartment, yes sometimes you can hear noise from surrounding units and your neighbors. It has never once been anything even remotely close to complaint worthy. I was concerned as many residents have dogs, I myself have an elderly senior dog who no longer enjoys the advancements of wagging tails from playful pups... everyone is so respectful with their dogs and of my dog. I have told all of the staff here that I never want to leave. I could easily make this my "forever home."
The building manager, Anna and Mark will pull the good old bait and switch. They gave myself and my significant a rate and discounts on July 8, 2017. Today, we went to look at another apartment style and maybe settle on an apartment, but they stated that it would cost more and the payments were different with the waived fees and rent NOT as told. We were told by Anna that the Main Building apartments were 2 months of rent waived and application fees waived. I also called Mark today (I have been in constent contact with Anna and Mark for appointments) to verify an appointment when my significant other got there, they sold it. He could not even call to cancel the appointment or show us another apartment similar.
Outside amenities: -Heated pool -Lake/pier -Playground across the street -Tennis and basketball courts Indoor amenities: -Gym -Free wifi in the main lobby -Uhm have you seen the pictures?! They should speak for themselves. Also: -Situated on a quieter county road, yet under 90 minutes from everything NJ has to offer -Reasonable pricing considering the above -Very friendly leasing staff (contrary to other reviews you may have read) -Pets OK $ I am so excited to be able to call my first big-girl home a Brand New, Luxury Helmetta Loft! -Future resident (Whenever The Mills is ready for move-in!)
The Lofts at Helmetta are advertised as being “Luxury Rentals”. This is really the definition of false advertising as there is nothing “Luxury” about anything on this property. On a quick walk through, things appear to be nice. Once you actually spend time in your property, you start to notice the cheap finishes and extremely poor construction. They appear to be marketing themselves as “Starbucks” but in reality they are Chock Full O’Nuts. A few examples: The bathroom countertop(s) stain and scratch with ease, more then likely these will already be damaged before you even move in. Your appliances may work to a standard of 10 years ago. Want to heat up a cup of coffee? Be prepared to wait awhile. Having a dishwasher is great, unless of course you have to run it multiple times to get the dishes clean. On the plus side you’ll have no problem hanging photos, there are so many popped nails that there is bound to be one for you to hang your stuff on. Like being woken up by the sound a train horn? This is the property for you then, the train run frequently. Hope you enjoy the smell of swamp, this is what your water smells like. In the shower, in your washing machine, in your kitchen when washing dishes.
Just came by the Lofts main office an hour before they close and the woman in the sales office wouldn't even talk to us. There are no directions on how to ring the bell for the office so finally after 5 minutes of us standing there the woman literally poked her head out the door and wouldn't even open it to say they were closing early because it's a holiday weekend (no sign or anything posted anywhere). She then shut the door and would not even speak to us. Good luck getting these buildings filled if that's how you treat potential residents!
