Property Ratings at Longfellow Heights Apartments OLD
I live in a 3 bed 2.5 bath townhouse, and overall my apartment is decent! It’s spacious and has everything you would need. The amenities are kind of dated but still work, somethings are just falling apart, though. We did have a little problem with roaches this year, but my roommates who have lived her longer than me have said it was never an issue before, it was just because the usual exterminator hadn’t come because of Covid. It’s overall a safe complex, but management does not do a great job of keeping the gates to the parking lots closed. In general, it is a cheap complex in a nice area.

Thank you for your feedback. Due to Covid-19, we are doing only emergency work orders. However, if you are experiencing any current issues with your unit we urge you to reach out to the office directly.
I lived at this place for a full year. When we first toured these apartments, they showed us a nice unit that was across the street from the Leasing Office. It was a 3 bed/2.5 bath unit in which the first two bedrooms were on the second floor and the third bedroom was on the third floor. It was very nice and that combined with the current renting price and the leasing specialist, Tyla, ultimately are what led to us renting with them. However, this apartment complex turned out to be a complete disaster! After signing a lease, we were given a unit COMPLETELY different from the one we were shown. It had a different set up and everything...there were only two floors in ours. My roommate moved in and said she saw roaches on the same day. She thought nothing of it. I wish that hadn’t been the case. I’m not sure where they came from because we cleaned that apartment from top to bottom, but the roaches just kept coming. They were in cabinets, on the counters, on the floors, everywhere! We called the leasing office so many times and all they would do is have someone come spray. It seemed like every two weeks we had to remove everything from our cabinets (per Blue Beetles instruction) so that they could come spray a bug problem that I am 100% sure had been there long before we moved in.We’d purchased Boric Acid and placed it around our apartment’s bases so that would hopefully get rid of the problem. I mopped the floors with bleach and Fabuloso numerous times throughout the weeks and it seemed to go on like that for forever. Around six months later the roaches seemed to be gone. We thought our problems were solved. That was not the case though. In February or March, the rodent issue began. There was a mouse coming in from somewhere in our apartment. We noticed pellet droppings in our kitchen underneath the sink. We immediately reported the issue to the leasing office. They stated that it might have been coming from our neighbors. There wasn’t anyone living in the unit next door to us so I’m not sure how this could be true, but nevertheless we listened to them. They sent out pest control to come lay out some traps.
I love my apartment. It is my understanding that the complex has been around for a while, but when I moved in it was just like new. There were a few bumps with signing my lease in the beginning but the staff was always friendly and willing to work with me! The gated community always makes me feel safe and there are a ton of security cameras. I have been living at Longfellow Heights going on 5 months and I have to say that my stay has been amazing. My neighbors are very friendly and respectful and the complex is well maintained. Any requests I have had for maintenance has had an amazing turn around and the maintenance person always went above and beyond in a professional manner. The only reservations that I have in considering long term residency are the lack of amenities, google fiber compatibility and also the pet policy. I would love to see more amenities added to the complex such as a small workout room, a club house with a kitchen for rentals, some type of court (basketball or tennis) , or even a movie theater or gaming room. The only amenity available is the pool but it is well maintained. Also there is no Google Fiber capabilities which I would prefer to use verses the tv/internet services that are available. As far as the pet policy, currently no dogs or cats are allowed but I have been told it is coming. I would really like to own a small dog and the layout of the complex would work perfectly for one. The location is amazing! I am so close to downtown and have easy access to the highway. Driving to south Kansas City, North Kansas City or Independence only takes a few minutes. Overall I really love this place. I always recommend Longfellow Heights in conversation with someone looking for a new apartment in the downtown area. I look forward to seeing any new changes or improvements that McCormack Baron Management has my complex.
