With its eastern border following the state line between Georgia and South Carolina and the Savannah River, the small neighborhood of National Hills rests just north of the city of Augusta. Hot summers and mild winters typify the climate of the region, while National Hills itself finds fame in its shopping and business districts, which the city has praised over recent years for reinvigorating the economy of the region. Though a little more expensive than the rest of the city, National Hills nevertheless provides an economical alternative within the State of Georgia, with good schools and plenty of local amenities. Mid-rise apartments with incredible amenities and single-family homes abound, there are plenty of rental options in this riverside reprieve.

Property Ratings at Lory of Augusta
Terrible in every aspect and I regret leasing with them. A/C will go out and be weeks before they try to do anything! They told me “atleast it’s cooler outside”
Worse place ever! I moved in 5 days ago. They do not care about there property or the tenants that live there. They are all about a dollar. I have did several complaints about the safety of my apartment and was told that they was not valid and they will not fix anything

If I had thoughs to renew my contract now I changed my mind, I paid on time every single month in covid, while in covid the complex didn’t care of us now we are infested.

The property is quiet. There is no onsite laundry room. There is no ice maker in the refrigerator. There is a $5.00 set up fee for using the online payment system. There is also a $3.95 monthly charge for using your debit card and no way to establish a connection to the checking account. So my first rental payment cost me almost $9.00. You can use WIPS, for free, in Kroger which is about 2 minutes away. They will not accept money orders due to COVID 19. The staff does not readily answer the phones. It is difficult to access anyone. There is little space in the kitchen for storing food. I live on the first floor and I do not hear my neighbor above me. The water is hot for bathes and dishes. You can only have one vehicle. I am not sure how the Masters will affect being able to leave the area, but it potentially may be an issue as it relates to traffic and accessing the other businesses in the area.
Reading reviews is important. It cost me 200 dollars. The office lady Shalonda explained incorrect information and after paying the fees, she said i was approved but needed to pay a non refundable bond 525 dollars . Afterwards, she asked me to sign Up to jetty where I was approved yet again and given a 1425 dollars bond. Uh what? 1425+525 in nonrefundable money? She told me to just pay it lol. The trick is that you can pay the 1425 monthly, added to rent. Stay away from this place.

The apartments seem ok for the price but that’s only if you’re willing to endure rude and unprofessional service at every turn. They have listed “bank statements” as one of the options to prove income ON THE APPLICATION, but apparently the head manager is against them. They hire new staff that give incorrect information. Then make fun of them (and me) for giving and believing that information.

I lived here for 1 year and it was the worst experience of my life. This property is infested with roaches. No matter how many times you call in for pest control, it never helped. I had bugs coming in from the drains, the vents, the crack under the door. There wasn't a bug free day during my entire lease. The apartment wasn't livable and management was less that empathetic.

To my fellow medical professionals and future medical professionals who have to come to Augusta for training, I highly advise that you avoid this place. There are comparable places nearby that cost just as much. I moved here 4 years ago when it was formerly known as Alexander Place under different management (had like 4/5 stars on google reviews). This was a great place to live under the former management. However, First communities took this place over about 2 years ago and ruined this place by immediately and continuing to raise rates and provide terrible customer service First, the good things about this place: 1) close to the hospital 2) very close to Washington road where most shops and restaurants are 3) property landscape is pretty nice 4) maintenance requests are responded to quickly Now the bad: 1) Way too overpriced for outdated units and no amenities. There are apartments literally down the street with comparable pricing with better management. 2) Management staff is full of rude individuals who talk with attitude and function at a third-grade education level. Reached out multiple times to assist me with a neighbor's dog barking outside every morning at 7:00 AM, and they offered no help. They make it pretty obvious that they are just in it for your money. 3) This is the only apartment community I've lived in that has no rent autopay feature. They rely on you paying through a third-party company that covers trash, sewage and water. For someone that wants just your money, they make it inconvenient for you to pay it. 4) Maintenance solves issues with patch jobs instead of actually fixing the underlying problem. Took me about 5 requests over the course of 6 months to fix my broken AC unit. They kept resetting the thermostat which didn't solve the problem 5) The quality of people living in this community has noticeably declined over the past few years. I've seen someone sell meth in the unit across from mine outside and in front of his car. Gang rape occurred a few months ago (check the news). Car break-ins occur too frequently. 6) The appliances in the units are outdated for the price of rent. 7) The exhaust in my bathroom connects with the adjacent unit so whenever that person poops or smokes weed in his bathroom, my bathroom gets filled with the smell. 8) No enforced parking rules
Until the last few weeks, this has been an awesome place to live. You could not beat it for the value. However, since the storage units on Alexander Drive have opened, the apartments facing those storage units have been inundated with light. It has gotten so bad that even the birds have been tricked into waking up and chirping before 5 each morning, making it very difficult to get a good night sleep. I would avoid any apartments on that side of the complex until this situation has been resolved. If anyone from management is reading this, please talk with our neighbors!
My apartment is located in a prime spot for two reasons..... Washington Road is known for it's numerous restaurants. And it is located in walking distance from the Augusta National Golf Club host of the Masters Tournament. My place is a two bedroom , two bathrooms, fenced in mini backyard, & fireplace. Honestly for a long time the fireplace was just a decorative piece until..... we had an ice storm!!!!! As family piled in due to loss of power it became a source of warmth & light! I especially like the fact that it is a flat but has the feel of home.
