Property Ratings at Loxley Chase Apartments
Don’t do it. Been here 4 years, they raise the rent $100 every year & make no upgrades. Currently writing this as I haven’t had water for 12 hours & don’t know when it’ll be back on. Had to go buy water just to wash my hands. My neighbors are disgusting & let their dogs pee on the entry sidewalk & it smells like acidic dog pee every day as soon as I walk out of my apartment & as soon as I get out of my car. I’ve told the office for 2 years now & they’ve done nothing about it. Had to buy a washer & dryer because the laundry room is too unreliable. 2 years ago someone broke into everyone’s car multiple days in a row & they did nothing about it.
This is a great community to live in and you are close to a lot of stores (Lowes, Harris Teeters, Tjmaxx) that are only a 1-2 minute drive. There us also a chickfila, mcd, and pizza hut very near by along with a bar and local restaurant. Quiet apartment complex. My only complaint would be that I’ve had issues with my kitchen sink garbage disposal, other than that everything has been good.
it’s very quiet and super kid friendly. The complex is well maintained, the staff is friendly, and always responds quickly whether it’s to answer a question or needing something done by maintenance. Someone else bought the complex shortly after I had moved here and there’s been a lot of great stuff being added which makes the community look even better

I began my apartment search and wasn't having much luck. When I went to Loxley Chase I was immediately greeted by a friendly leasing agent, who was caring and professional. She made my apartment hunt easy and smooth. Very happy I looked because I live here and love it!
I moved in Loxley chase about 1 year and half , and i love it here, the staff is great. The location meets all of my needs. the maintance takes care of your repairs quickley, .I have lived in a few apartments.other places, no other staff compares to loxley chase. If you are looking for a apartment loxley chase is the place.
I was on a hunt for a new living location. & since day one, the staff has treated me so well . Literally the best service I’ve received out of all the rental properties I’ve had. The staff is very helpful and so nice and consistent. I’m so looking forward to stay here soon . I wish everyone do business like this staff it makes you appreciate the good people with kind hearts that want u to be comfortable while on this property...
There were a number of things broken in our apartment upon move in, including the front door, despite the fact that we couldn't do a walk-through of the apartment we were moving into the week prior because it was supposedly being worked on. It was also filthy, I had to empty the vacuum 5 times just to clean the apartment once. In general these apartments are older and not well maintained. Paint is chipped (on the cabinets, tubs, walls, etc.), tiles are loose and missing grout, chipped non-fitting toilet lid, sagging particle board cabinets, and whatever you do do not look in the air return duct. Yikes. ... The property manager closed the ticket for the front door the day after telling me in person that maintenance agreed it needed to be replaced and they were working on doing that. The ticket was only re-opened after pointing out the conversation from the day before and sending pictures and a video of the problems. Property manager then said maintenance didn't think there was a problem. Be prepared to get multiple different answers to any question you ask her. I now have zero trust in what she says. There are no light fixtures in the bedrooms or living room. We knew this moving in, but had an incredibly short time to relocate for a new job. Also, the light fixture in the hall, where there is an oddly low ceiling, is low enough a tall person will hit their head on it. The appliances (refrigerator, stove, and dishwasher only ones provided) are older, particularly the dishwasher which sounds like a helicopter taking off when you run it. And there are smaller nuisances, like the refrigerator door facing the wrong way, the sink being very shallow and having no sprayer, the strange layout of the kitchen with a corner sink and difficult to reach cabinets behind it. TL;DR - do yourself a favor and keep looking.
Things to consider before moving here: As another reviewer pointed out there are extra fees for everything, and you will probably not find out all of them until you are in the process of signing the lease. The pest control schedule went from supposedly being monthly before we moved in, to then hearing it's every 90 days, and then about two sentences later "It's more like every 120 days" from the property manager. There does not seem to be a pest problem, but we also found out that our apartment may have been sprayed (property manager could not say for sure) with our pets in it while we weren't here. They are supposed to notify residents first so you can remove pets or put them in a separate room. We are never told when someone will be in the apartment, so are constantly worried that our indoor only cats will be let out accidentally. I would be glad to put them in a separate room with litter and food, but don't know when anyone is coming. This is after paying a $600 non-refundable fee and $30 extra a month to have our cats here. I have even left a large sign up with my cellphone number to call. There is a place to check that you are not granting access on the maintenance form (like for a job that should be 100% outside) but I am told this is ignored because the website has it checked by default. What am I supposed to do about their website design problems? Forget about getting credit card rewards points for paying rent, there is a $20 convenience fee not only on the website but also to pay in the office in person. This also isn't disclosed on the website until after you have given the 3rd party processor your credit card information. ...
My wife and I lived at Loxley chase for about 4 years and enjoyed it greatly. The office staff were always friendly and helpful and we noticed a lot of work put into the property since the new management took over. Although the apartment was not new, the price was reasonable since the location was so convenient to everything in Winston. Plus, the maintenance guys were always prompt if we had an issue. I would definitely recommend this community if your are looking for maintenance free living in a quite and convenient location.
Beware of Loxley Chase move in specials that are posted here. They advertise rates and then add on additional charges for trash, pest control, pet rent, yearly pet fee, month to month charge and water. All of the additional charges push the rent up around 300.00 per month. The water is sub metered; not by the city so you never know or have access to the real cost. Additionally the unit walls are paper thin so you can hear your neighbors every move. I hope this helps people out I am not a competitor, however, a former tenant.
By far the worst management team I've had to deal with. They're unprofessional bullies that have no respect for anyone but themselves. We had to get a lawyer involved to make them stop harassing us and pursuing an unlawful eviction. They held our rent check and claimed it bounced when they hadn't even tried to cash it. They illegally threatened to kick us out and failed to give us proper notice of such action. Once our lawyer stepped in, they stopped. NOT WORTH THE TROUBLE. No one here likes the manager and I've known people who lived here for a decade or more and have decided to leave because of her.
Sherwood ridges apt homes has really been good to me. I'm a local college student therefore gas means a lot to me. My complex is very close to my job and school which makes it convenient. The surrounding neighborhood is amazing as well. These units are huge. If there is ever a problem the maintenance guys are on it quickly! The leasing ladies are very professional yet very friendly and down to earth. I recommend long or short term living here in Sherwood ridges to ANYONE!
