The neighborhood borders the Barton Creek Habitat Preserve to the west, which contains over 4,000 acres of wilderness to hike through. Closer to home, the Twin Falls walking path meanders through the forested region in the southeastern corner of the neighborhood, making it perfect for a quick walk, jog, of afternoon with the dog.
Prospective residents can find a rental along the Capital of Texas Highway for quick access to shops, restaurants, and businesses. With Downtown Austin just 10 miles to the east, apartments in Barton Creek provide fast access to sports events at the University of Texas at Austin, performances at the Long Center for the Performing Arts and ZACH Theatre, and the fun of the annual Austin City Limits Music Festival.

Property Ratings at MAA Barton Skyway
Nickel dime and take lots of time. If I would have known there would be such poor service combined with such an old apartment I would probably have moved into landmark instead I like the location, but I regret choosing the woods. The have made mistakes on billing, they have attempted to charge us for items after they couldn't fix them, and half the vents don't even work. Half our apartment doesn't get heat. Then on top of that the mail isn't available outside of business hours. Meanwhile I am at Work or in commute 12 hours a day. It's a shame such a great location is being so poorly managed. If you are thinking of moving here I would consider spending a little more to live in the nicer communities in the area. MAA finds other ways to make you pay.

On the surface this apartment was not bad for the price. It is in a good location for those who enjoy the outdoors. However, the units are old and poorly maintained. BE SURE TO THOUROUGHLY FILL OUT YOUR PRE MOVE IN INSPECTION. We were hit with random charges at move out. As time went by, the poor quality of the units became more and more apparent. Things started to fall apart (cabinets and drawers), the drainage was horrible, and the sliding doors and windows were frequently stuck. As soon as winter was over our apartment was completely infested with mosquitos and millipedes- likely due to poor upkeep and proximity to the greenbelt. Additionally, management failed to keep the premise safe. On multiple occasions we had people clearly not living at the apartments come up to our door, and I had my car broken into parked right outside of our unit. The pool was also closed for a significant portion of our tenure living here.

Lived here for two years... A lot of insects... you cant even use the balcony because of the terrible amount of mosquito... The apartment is falling apart... Our doors are repaired multiple times because the house is clearly moving... you can see cracks around the house... Come move - out time they will charge you with terrible fees...A lot of dog poop everywhere and their trash bins are always in terrible condition
The Woods on Barton Skyway is a Jem within our beautiful city. It has everything! First I have to say I love the staff. Denise and Sandy run the office and are a couple of the sweetest women you'll ever meet. If you are in the area come and say hi. They're great! They I've never had an issue these ladies went prompt on getting resolved. Dwight runs the maintenance and grounds. There isn't a problem he can't fix!! Very Experienced! Thank you Dwight for all your help over the years... Rudy and Murtada are on point with everything around here. The staff here just gets the job done. Everyone is so professional and so cool. The staff alone is a reason to move in!!! Anyway, your right off the Mopac but you can't hear the cars. Easy access to head in any direction. Your a mile from downtown,trails are at the bottom of the hill along with Taco Deli and a corner store and a health food deli inside. Dog friendly neighborhood and beautiful people. The Woods on Barton Skyway!!! I can't say enough!!!

As long time home owners with memories of our wild and crazy youth we were anxious as we searched for an apartment in Austin. Our must haves were pets, quiet, and near downtown. The bonus wish list included washer/dryer or hook-ups, location near public transportation and an exercise room or near-by bike-jogging-walking path. The Woods at Barton Skyway met our wants, needs, and so much more. The location is one of the best in town. We are across the street from the Greenbelt that leads to Zilker Park and all it offers (ACL, Barton Springs Pool, Festival of Lights, Botanical Gardens, canoeing, kayaking, The Kite Festival, and free musicals at the outdoor theater every summer). We are also across the street from Taco Deli (try their breakfast Otto). The school and public bus stops are at the end of Barton Skyway and on Spyglass so you are never far from one. The public school district is one of the best in the state. Though The Woods isn’t one of the newer apartments in the area it is well maintained and laid out. Parking is located in cul-de-sacs that allow for a more pleasing view from most apartments. Maintenance issues are dealt with quickly and emergencies are dealt with immediately. Dealing with the staff is a pleasure rather than a trial. They let you know over two month before your lease is to expire to give you time to make other plans if that is your wish instead of kicking you on your way out with additional fees. The apartment doesn’t have a playground but it does have a doggie play area. The floor plans draw residents from all ages. Students, retirees, and young families enjoy the pool and gas grill on the patio at the clubhouse. The area is safe and quiet. The reasons I rated The Woods on Barton Skyway 4 stars instead of 5 stares are 1) You are required to purchase Time Warner Cable whether you will be using it or not, 2) We don’t have Google Fiber, yet, and 3) The clubhouse kitchen, dining room and living room are not available after office hours. There is no separation between the offices on the top floor and the entertaining area on the bottom floor. It is a nice area that is under used because most gatherings occur. We had intended to live in an apartment for a year while we found our way around Austin. We have revived our plans to stay here until our daughter graduates from college as we can’t think of living anywhere else.
1 minute walk to the Barton Creek Greenbelt and Tacodeli. Great if you're into nature, hiking, swimming holes, and delicious taco's. That should be just about everyone with a pulse. Grounds look great and the rent is reasonable by Austin standards to boot. Units themselves are clean and well maintained if not a little out of date.
