Property Ratings at MAA Chastain
PLEASE READ if you are considering an apartment at MAA Chastain. Below is my feedback after living here for the past two years. I will start with the pros and give credit where it is due: Pros: The maintenance team. Every single on of them. They are very easy to work with, respond quickly, and all of my maintentenance requests were solved the same day. The other pro of living at MAA Chastain is the proximity to Chastain Park and Blue Herron Nature Preserve. Cons: The leasing office has let me down on multiple occasions. I was told that my unit would have a washer and dryer upon signing my lease, only to find out that I was misled once I moved into the unit. They then tried to upcharge me to rent their W/D units, which I opted out of and purchased my own. The second time I was misled is in regards to lease termination. I spoke on the phone with the leasing office prior to planning my move, and was told that as long as I gave 60 days notice, I would not be penalized for terminating my lease early. When I called to provide notice, I spoke with a different individual who told me that I would have to pay a penalty of 2x rent. A word of advice if you plan to live here or any other MAA property - please cover your back and get every detail in writing from the MAA team. It seems like I hear a different answer every time I call, so save yourself the trouble and get all of their promises in writing. Cons (Pet related): This complex is a nightmare for pet owners. There have been days where I have picked up 20+ piles of dog poop that did not come from my own dog. I step in poop nearly ever day, and the majority of tenants do not clean up properly after their own pets. Also, there are no sidewalks throughout the property. Every time you walk your dog through the complex, you will be at risk of cars driving by because there is not a designated walkway. To add to this, there is not any sort of dog park or fenced in area in the complex. MAA has stated that they would be building a dog area, but has been saying this for years without making one ounce of progress. On top of this, there is now a full-time armed security guard that is stationed at the front office. This is likely due to all of the 911 calls at the complex, which seem to have increased drastically since I moved in. I am afraid that since the MAA acquisition, this property has gone downhill fast (RIP Post). All of those long-term residents I knew have now left for many of the same reasons I mentioned above

Hi, we're disappointed to hear of the negative experience you had at our location. We would like to work towards a resolution and take your time seriously, so if you are willing, please reach out to our customer care line at ResidentCare@maac.com. We will respond to your inquiry within 48 business hours. Thank you.
I moved in recently and the quiet complex with wooded views, fantastic north Buckhead location, large balconies, smart locks, and relatively spacious 2BR floorplans are among the positives. The apartments are seriously in need of upgrades though, from faucets and appliances to windows and screens. The kitchen and bath tile, granite, and cabinetry are that dark maple/brown combination that was popular at least a decade ago, but they say they have no plans to renovate anytime soon. The open parking is inadequate and they charge you for a garage space. No package lockers makes deliveries a mess. The package room has shelves and totes full of USPS packages and you have to hunt for yours. Other delivery services are supposed to deliver to your door but packages frequently get left downstairs in the common area by the drivers. Maintenance seems to pick and choose which repairs they'll make and they leave some requests uncompleted. Office staff are a mix of friendly and indifferent, but a lack of timely communication made my move-in difficult since I was told just two days before my move-in date that I couldn't move in until after 3pm when I'd already scheduled movers for the late morning and had to reschedule for the following day. The mgmt refused to compensate me for even part of the lost day. Overall, it's a relatively good complex for the price but if you're looking for luxury and top notch amenities or service, this isn't the place.

If you read other reviews you’ll see multiple people complaining about price gauging after move out. This is true and is still happening. I was charged $490 to recarpet a room less then 300 square feet. Management is basically useless- example being when I came home to my door lock “malfunctioning” and no longer working with my key (an issue I would later find out they see all the time)- they not only don’t have a 24 hour line but are also closed on sundays. Sunday afternoon after 12+ hours of trying to reach someone- we had to call a locksmith to get in our door to our pets who where without food / new water. Although the issue was caused by their locks malfunctioning (only 4 days after move in...) they refused to reimburse us for the locksmith fee even though they were unresponsive to the issue and it was a danger to our pets safety. The apartments are outdated, they’ll email you like 100 times if the hallways smell like pot because of your neighbors, and threaten to have the police search every apartment until they find the source of the smell. Honestly anything you save by signing her will be lost upon moving out. This has happened to every past resident I’ve met.

Post Chastain is a nice oasis in the middle of Buckhead. The grounds are clean, the apartments are updated.
Very peaceful.
My living experience has been great at Post...my experience since the property was bought by MA in February has been less than great as it was with Specifically POST.
This is the 4th year we are staying at Post Chastain, and we couldn't be happier. We choose this community because of its location, accessibility and school zone. However, once we moved, we realised all the other benefits - security, elevator access, cleanliness, maintenance and many more. Mostly importantly, we admire the office and maintenance staff. They are reachable, prompt and very helpful. They truly value their residents. We have loved living here and look forward to stay here for next few years as well. Only Con is - there arent any 3BDRM apartments. We wish there were some so that we dont outgrow the current 2 BDRM with growing kids. IWe hope the management comes up with a few.
It's been near perfect. The units are up to date, almost noise free, no pest problems or mechanical issues. The landscaping, pool and gym areas are beautiful. It feels like we live in a resort. The management are friendly, attentive, fair and competent.

Post Chastain has gone downhill over the past few years. I’ve been a resident with Post for 8 years now and they show no loyalty whatsoever. I have reported mold in my apartment over 4 times since April 2017. Each time they come in and just cover it up and it keeps coming back. I have been displaced from my apartment multiple times while they have to put large dehumidifiers in that run constantly and the property manager doesn’t seem to see any inconvenience in that all it. Don’t live here. It’s dirty and gross.
I love it here. The amenities are fantastic, staff is super helpful, price is reasonable, and property is lovely. The only thing is, there are lots of bugs. But, you live right next to a nature preserve so what do you expect?? It's kind of nice knowing they aren't just bulldozing over nature. You live with it, not on it.
Very quiet. Nice amenities. Not enough parking.

I really love my apartment. It's spacious, private and quiet. The building is clean and the complex has everything you could need. Not to mention, Roswell Road has everything. Your right in the middle of the action!
I have loved it at Post Chastain so far, from the living spaces to the amenities and the residents events. The pool is always fun on the weekend. My favorite person in Post Chastain is Ed, the best maintenance guy there is. He is amazing and efficient and never go short in making sure everything is taken care of. The only downside is that in the mail room there are no ladder for the upper shelves which poses a danger for short people to try to grab packages from the upper shelves.
I have had a good experience living at Post Chastain. The location is great, the staff is friendly & maintenance is super helpful. The apartments, even though renovated still have some aged aspects, but for the price in comparison to the market, one can't expect a brand new building. My one bedroom does not have a washer & dryer and that is one of the only things that may cause me to not renew my lease. Post Chastain is a nice complex and they seem to do a lot to keep their residents aware, satisfied and entertained with the events they have every month.
I have enjoyed living at Post Chastain because the property is nice and my apartment is spacious. However, the parking is very limited and there could be more sidewalks where people walk more frequently. The managerial staff and the maintenance staff are very attentive and polite.

I couldn't be any happier with the responsiveness and attention to detail the management and maintenance exhibit. I've never had a maintenance request that wasn't resolved within 24 hours. The grounds and common areas are very well kept. Very professionally run.
Very convenient and well maintained
Pleasant.
It has been perfect. Nice area, friendly staff, safe environment, clean and functioning facilities. Plus I cannot hear the people who live around me. This place is very well insulated. I?ve been here for 8months and I have zero complaints. The trash chute and mail package pick ups til 9pm seen huge bonuses. Thank you for the hard work!
I enjoy living at Post Chastain. The grounds are well kept, very beautiful community. The office staff is very polite and helpful. Maintenance is very fast and responsive. I love my apartment, I never have any noise complaint issues or any pest control issues.
Facility is a bit outdated for the price but I still enjoy the location. Maintaince is great and responds quickly. There are several things they could do better: increase security, for instance, the back door of building 2 does not shut all of the way, the gate breaks all the time and doors get proped open all too often. Management also lets outside vendors take keys to apartments even if the renter did not authorize them to let themselves into the apartment. Overall, I enjoy living at Post Chastain, however the slip ups do need to end at some point!

Nice place when it's not too noisy. Noisy drunks come home after midnight on weekend nights and holler to each other in the parking lot. Same ones turn pool into a low-rent environment on Saturdays. Then there is the Harley that cranks up at 7 am every morning. Maybe we need a DUI check point on the weekends and a no-biker rule.

If you only care about location then the place is OK. If you want to get nickled and dimed at every turn-- Post Chastain is your place. I'm moving out in June and they've kept $400 in excess of my security deposit (I accidentally overpaid) and will not return the funds until after I move out. However, when they don't get their payment they'll hound you constantly for payment. Additionally, there are roaches and it is gross.

We understand the burdens that such policies and procedures may cause, and we'd like to speak with you directly about the issues you've faced as a resident to make sure they improve. Please give us a call at your earliest convenience at 866-620-1130.
I have lived here for 1 week and have had nothing but bad experiences ever since I moved in. I was told that I would be able to rent a laundry machine and dryer for inside my apartment but come to find out my apartment doesn't even have the space for it. I go to use the communal laundry room and none of the machines will even work. I was told all the ceiling fans have lights attached to them and come to find out our ceiling fan in the bedroom has no light. They continually try to add extra charges onto my account which I have to refute with them every time and I am sick of it. Management is a bunch of 20-year-olds who would rather try to be your friend than actually do their job. I can't wait to spend the next 14 months in this miserable place.

We strive to meet every need of our residents and regret to hear that we’ve failed to provide adequate service for you. Please accept our apologies on this matter. We would like to speak with you in person, when you have a moment. Please call us at 866-620-1130 or visit us in the leasing office.
The apartment location is great for the Atlanta/Buckhead area. Only a 25 minute commute to Midtown in the morning during rush hour, but closer to 45 minutes on the way home. And also only a few dollar cab/uber to the buckhead bars. The apartment complex is well maintained, incredibly close to Chastain Park and the adjoining golf course (huge bonus for runners and golfers), and the common areas are awesomely landscaped green spaces. There's a fenced dog park and a great workout area, pool, and lounge area as well. You're in the city, but in the complex you feel like you have plenty of space. However, there are a few quirks. For some reason, at night, the parking lots fill up and residents have to park on the curbs and in fire lanes/inconvenient places. The place doesn't really recycle (sometimes there's a recycling dumpster, sometimes not - but trash is convenient and never an issue - just boxes), and then my personal pet peeve - the light switches in the bedrooms in all the apartments and some in the living rooms don't control the lights. You have to manually pull the chords for the fans and lights. All in all, great place to live, fun residents and well priced for what you get!
It's pretty good. The rent is reasonable for the location.
Post Chastain is a nice place...nice neighbors...in a great location I have lived here for over 4 years
