Located approximately 40 miles north of Downtown Phoenix, North Gateway is a sprawling community made up of open desert, nature preserves, and suburban streets. Property Ratings at MAA Foothills
The property itself is very nice and in a great location. The apartment is very nice as well...however, I unfortunately chose an apartment right next to the Parkway and the noise is incredible. There is a constant steady stream of traffic, and especially big trucks from the construction sites across the road. What makes things worse is that the trucks drive right over a big divot in the highway and they bounce in the air, and when they come down, the bang is so loud and impact on the ground causes my apartment to shake and vibrate. The noise is so bad that I have to wear ear plugs to sleep at night, and some nights the car noises are so loud at 2-3 in the morning I have had to sleep in my bathroom and bath tub. I am very disappointed the property staff did not disclose the street noise to me when I rented the apartment (they could not sow me the apartment I rented until I moved in -the apartment I saw a few weeks before was across the building and shielded from all the noise). If you need to rent an apartment here, do so way into the property and away from the North Valley Parkway.

A minimum of $150 is added onto your rent every month thanks to fees. Amenities aren't nice enough to justify the pricing of everything. You are forced into dealing with 1 ISP that provided terrible customer support. If you are working from home there is no greater nuisance especially when you pay $40 a month for "MAA Connect" Be aware of these nuisances before you decide on this place.

I lived in phase 2, for 3 years and just moved recently. I can say it’s a beautiful place to live, very nicely kept and great amenities. The maintenance crew is terrific, know you by name and that’s no mean feat with a large complex! It’s a safe area, with friendly neighbors I’ll miss a lot!

Quiet, clean, well maintained
I have been here 6 years, and I like it very much.
My experience living at the property has been great.
Office staff and maintenance staff are friendly and respond in a timely manner. The grounds are kept clean, I really enjoy the clubhouse with my friends. I would strongly this place to anyone. I would like to give special mention to Junior who is with the maintenance team. He?s the best!

I love the location, the layout of my apt, the fact there is a full sized washer & dryer. The grounds are beautiful, and well kept up (despite the dogs) The pools, workout rooms are nice and always clean

It is a very pleasant, well maintained, friendly community with very nice amenities.
It has been very pleasant, I'm approaching 3 years in May. What I am unhappy with is the yearly rent increase when nothing has changed inside my apartment and I pay every month early. I have cracked paint in my dining room from a repair that was done prior to my moving in and I can't get anybody to look at or even consider repairing. I am very unhappy with other tenants having dogs and don't believe in picking up after them.
Very comfortable and love the area. Parking sucks and the staff could all use a course on customer service.
We live in a time period where cable is almost non existent. This complex forces you to pay for cable "included in rent" but you still have to pay deposits on it, due to managements poor decisions 10years ago. Other dogs can NOT visit you. So if you have friends that stop by with their dogs, look elsewhere. The property is outdated compared to it's neighboring competitors. Overall I am glad I did not choose to move here. What a Rip Off!

Nice apartment with two beautiful pool areas and covered parking. Great location close to shopping and freeways. Friendly and helpful staff. Hiking trails nearby and beautiful clubhouse with free internet. Has doggy park on site and beautiful views of the mountains.
I moved into Talus Ranch in June with my boyfriend and our dog. We loved that they don't have breed restrictions and instead have a weight limit of 50lbs, this for us seemed like a good policy. This policy made the complex seem accepting of all breeds and safe for smaller dogs to live and play comfortably at. This was however not the case. My boyfriend took our dog out to use the restroom one morning and they were both attacked by another residents 120lb dog. The other resident did nothing to stop the situation while my boyfriend was fighting the dog off of him and our dog. Once that dog was finally off of them my boyfriend went to check on our dog and the other resident took off running with his dog. We alerted the management and informed them of all of the details, they have yet to contact the other resident, we are still paying off the vet bills from that incident, and not only that but our dog who is usually in her kennel when we go out, had to stay out of her kennel while healing to avoid further injuring her self due to her mind altering pain medication, thus causing her to not be her self and scratch up the front door, which we are expected to pay for. This apartment complex does not follow policies or procedures and is extremely useless. We will be moving as soon as our lease is up.
I moved in here in June with my girlfriend (keep in mind that we both look like young teenagers, and are treated as such) we have had several issues regarding our major appliances (dryer, and dish washer) we went into the office to make them aware of the situation and to request it be fixed. They acted as if they could not see us in the lobby waiting to talk to them and helped everyone else first. When they finally had helped everyone else that had walked in after us they asked us what we needed, we informed them about our dishwasher and our dryer smoking every time we use them and they said it is normal and asked if they could help us with anything else. It is obvious that the dryer should not cause enough smoke from behind that it fills up our apartment and makes us leave every time we use it. We went back in there with someone who looks older and were treated much different and they then assured us that it would be fixed immediately and that that is not normal at all. They have not fixed either issue to this day. This is a fire hazard and they need to value the safety of their residence more.
I love this apartment complex, I'm currently living here. I have a dog and he loves going to the dog parks. Everyone here is very friendly and its at a great location for walking and hiking trails. The complex is very clean and probably the best in the area!
We really enjoy living at Talus Ranch. The staff is very friendly. Our kids love the free coffee bar that is available daily. The grounds are beatufully kept. They are great at fixing any problems that we have. The area is fantastic.
