Glen Allen is a quiet suburban community on the north side of Richmond, roughly ten miles from the city center. The community is primarily composed of residential neighborhoods, with a large shopping center on the northeast corner of town, anchored by the popular Virginia Center Commons. The excellent public schools and low crime rate attract many Richmond-area commuters to Glen Allen, especially those raising families.
A cluster of large parks and golf courses on the south side of town provides excellent opportunities to get outside and enjoy the fresh air and the tranquility of nature, particularly the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden. With Richmond so close at hand, it’s easy to hop down and take advantage of the historic city’s dining, entertainment, and sightseeing anytime.

Property Ratings at MAA Hunton Park
Poorly managed and maintained. No grounds keeping, ants in bathroom on second floor right when we moved in. 3 months later, still ants. Management can’t seem to u seat and why I don’t want to have ants in my bed at night. Windows don’t open…. I’ve been in 3 different units… they all don’t open and have mold around them at move in. Terrible carpentry work around the base and crown molding. Looks like my college dorm. Light outlets painted over. Door hinges painted over and falling off. Toilet wobbly and not attached to the floor. Feel free to experience it yourself!

We just received our renewal offer, which was 11% higher than our current rent. The market average rent increase from 2017-2022 was 5.77%. When I attempted to negotiate the rate, I was told “there is no negotiation room for your renewal offer.” I strongly encourage those considering the Hamptons at Hunton Park to look elsewhere. It is an undeniably beautiful community, but when you’re priced out of your own home and the property management (MAA) refuses to negotiate in good faith, you’re left looking for a new home a year later.

This community is horrible. Prior to signing a lease I couldn’t see my actual apartment. I came into town filled out the application and then came back to sign my lease. Even then I was told when I could show up and that I couldn’t view it first because maintenance was there. We got in and took 3 pages of notes of things wrong with the apartment. Then come the headaches of living there. The rules constantly change, first they tell everyone where over flow parking is then when you complain of not being able to park at your building they do nothing and say there’s no assigned parking. The gates only work half the time. The trash compactor only works half the time. Maintenance took a year to finally fix a reoccurring leak. We woke up one morning to our freezer not working so we called emergency maintenance and they said that they couldn’t do anything because they didn’t have keys, they finally showed at 10 a.m. every time they came they would come back and ask if they left the master keys in our apartment, which they hadn’t, so we never knew if our belongs were secure or not. Then comes the pain of moving out, which you will because your lease goes up about $400 a month if you stay. They want you to clean or pay to clean a place that was filthy and over charge for damages. They’re lucky I can’t post photos of the stairs that should be condemned, mold, and dog excrement.

Thank you for taking the time to share your opinion as a former resident. We regret to hear that there were several aspects of living in our community that you weren't satisfied with. Our team does their best to address any concerns and maintenance requests promptly. Periodic rent increases at the time of renewal do occur based on the local community, and all of our move-out policies can be found in the lease agreement. If you have any unresolved issues that need to be addressed, our team in the leasing office would be happy to assist you. Thank you and we wish you well.
I'm a 75 year old female and I feel safe living by myself at this property. The office team and maintenance crew are great. They always address my needs quickly and efficiently. The grounds are beautifully kept. My only concern is I may be priced out of living here. This is going on my 5th year living here and the rent increases each year are tough for a person on a fixed income. I wish they would consider a lesser increase for long term residence. I feel as though this is my own home and I have made many improvements to this unit.
I've had good consistent support from staff, from maintenance - the very few times I've called for very minor issues - and everyone has been responsive and pleasant to work with. As for my home, it is surprisingly quiet and peaceful. The grounds are beautifully maintained. Nice place for my little dog, too, she's welcome everywhere. I think I made my decision about where to live after the 7 tornado evening. I was traveling south on 95, onto 295 towards Charlottesville, and the tornado warnings along my route were scary. I'd recalled where the Hamptons apartments were, and thought I'd just pull in to the office with my dog to get off the highway. The staff kept the office and media room open long after closing in order for those of us gathered in the media room to stay and feel safe until we could get on our way. They are very kind people. This is my second experience with apartment living between periods of home ownership. Both have been with MAA properties in different cities.
It?s been good the last 2 years. The rent is high and we?re paying to have a gate but the gates always open.
Quiet, easy access to highways
The Hamptons has been a great place to live. The property is well kept, the apartments are very spacious, and the folks at the front office are quite helpful! The location is ideal for quick access to 295 as well as to numerous restaurants and shops. We have very much enjoyed our time here so far.
Overall good. I feel that there could be some improvements made
Very good.
The community is in a great and safe location. The apartment is very dog friendly.
Living experience is nice. The office is run efficiently. All work order request are completed in a timely manner. Excellent in keeping residents inform on any upcoming events, changes to the property, and grounds are maintained very well.
Attentive staff, great apartment and location, well maintained (could use a little more effort at garbage disposal and some dog poop on lawn issues), reasonable price. Very happy to be living here!
Beautiful kept grounds, friendly staff and excellent maintenance service. I love the layout of my apartment, enjoy the clubhouse with the fitness room, theatre and coffee bar as well as the pool in the summer time. Also The Hampton are very central located with just minutes away from shopping, dining and entertainment and more. I love it here and can highly recommend "The Hamptons at Hunton Park."
Living at the property is okay. The office staff are very friendly. The maintenance staff are friendly and professional, and maintenance issues are solved quickly. I really haven?t had any major issues since I have been living at the property. The only problem I have with living at the property is the parking. I feel that there should be at least one assigned parking space per apartment. For the amount of rent that is charged a tenant should not have to park far away at times from where they live. And if tenants have garages or rent garages they should have to use them and not park in spaces that could be occupied my other tenants. Also tenants that have cars they do not drive and have covered up should have to park them in other areas of the complex, not in front of buildings where tenants live and need to park near their home.
The living experience has been good. Some of the big pros are that the staff is very friendly and helpful and the maintenance staff is very quick to answer requests. The pool is also very nice. Some cons are that the gym equipment is a little beat-up (treadmills) and that there is only one machine (although it can do separate exercises, only one person may use it at a time).
Grounds are well kept, good customer service within rental staff. My area concern are the thin walls and lack of privacy within the units due to thin walls.
Well kept, beautiful apartments. Great neighborhood.
I absolutely love my apartment. It's located in a quiet area with quick access to major highways. The staff is incredible and friendly.
Definitely a great experience so far! I am glad to living at The Hamptons at Hunton Park.
Quiet and spacious
Beautiful, resort-style atmosphere. Not only are pool, grounds, and apartments meticulously kept, but management team consists of top-notch individuals. My husband and I had the pleasure of living at the Hamptons while he was on a work project in Richmond. Having lived in various places for different work projects, the Hamptons has surpassed our expectations with its unique combination of amenities, friendly/efficient office management, and a group of people who truly care about providing the very best for residents of the Hunton Park community. Highly recommend the Hamptons at Hunton Park.

Thank you for your outstanding review! The Hamptons at Hunton Park offers a desirable combination of superior service, unparalleled amenities, and well-kept facilities. It sounds like you love your home and everything about it! Thank you for sharing your appreciation.
I am a current resident. I am probably not renewing my lease because they raised my rent almost $100 when I went to renew my lease today. Their excuse to raise my rent was I was on a ground floor apartment and they are in high demand. Yet, when I go onto their website, their are many apartments currently available for rent. In fact, there are currently sixteen 2-bedroom apartments available and some of them are cheaper than what they offered to renew my lease for. They told me it would cost more to find another place and move than to just pay this rent. They did call back and offer a $15 discount I have been a good tenant and have caused no issues. The rate increase is uncalled for. I have had some other problems though. My washing machine stopped draining water. I called them and spoke to them about the problem. I turned the machine off, but there was already water on the floor. By the time they came to fix the problem 2 days later, all of the water had soaked into the carpet. The carpet in front of the washer/dryer room was soaked. It took several days for it to completely dry. The shower curtain rod fell off the wall in the guest bedroom. Again, it took 3 days to get to me to fix it. But they sent me an email on the second day to ask how the workers did. Very poor management. Save yourself. Go find somewhere else to live.

Thank you for sharing your issues with our pricing. We work hard to provide a high-quality living experience for our residents without increasing rent until it is absolutely necessary to do so. We would love to discuss this issue in more detail to determine how we can help resolve this situation in a timely manner. We also deeply regret the inconveniences due to the timeliness of our maintenance service. Please call us at 866-620-1130, or visit the leasing office at your earliest convenience.
I've been at the Hamptons for almost 5 months and have already had two water leaks in my apartment. Both water leaks were caused by washing machines on upper levels (I am on the bottom floor). The second leak occurred Monday and was bad enough that they had to move my furniture away from the walls, pull up the carpet, put in two commercial blowers and one commercial dehumidifier, and cut holes in my wall and ceiling. When they cut the holes in the ceiling (pretty much directly over the bed), they neglected to drape my furniture and my bed. So my clothes and furniture are now coated in drywall dust. Anyone who has dealt with drywall dust knows how fine and chalky it is. It is very hard to clean up, as well, because it is so fine that it will clog vacuum filters. And to top all of this off, I cannot get an estimate of when my apartment will be ready for me to move in because the manager is out of the office and did not brief the staff as to the situation in case I called. This morning I tried to call again a good 10 minutes after their opening time, and had to leave a voicemail. I have had to board my dog through all this and am staying at my parents because I can't sleep in my bedroom. This is not the best customer service, and I am quite disappointed.

Our staff strives to create a safe, comfortable community, and we hold your satisfaction as one of our top priorities. Rest assured that our management team is looking into your situation and will work quickly to find a resolution. Please do not hesitate to contact us directly at 866-620-1130 to speak about this issue.
Spacious, well-equipped, upscale apartments that feel more like a home or townhouse than a standard apartment; well-maintained grounds, great amenities (pool, well equipped gym, gas BBQ grills, free rent-able on site movie theater/pool table/party area, dog park, free coffee), safe gated community with friendly neighbors, very quiet and secluded, but near an expressway so easy 10-15 minute drive from most places (20 minutes to downtown Richmond); responsive maintenance staff. Near plenty of nice shopping/libraries/schools. Affordable for what you get. Friendly and accommodating office staff. Best place I have lived so far.

We thank you so much for your wonderful review. We are so glad you have chosen The Hamptons at Hunton Park as your home, and welcome you to the leasing office at any time with your suggestions or feedback. Thank you for being a loyal resident!
When I moved in, the staff were better, now new staff took over and they were never on the same page. These new staff are also not friendly and they rip you off left and right. Don't turn in keys early because they will still charge you even they didn't say that when they accepted your keys. The public areas have always been dirty, hallway, steps, lamps full of spider webs. Since it's very dog friendly, poo poo are everywhere on the ground. It's gated, but people can walk in from the side, not safe. I lost one bench outside my door first day I moved there. I can also hear noise from upstairs and next door. The only good thing was the apartment itself is nice, but for that, you have to deal with all the other poor services and environment.
This is a quiet, well-maintained community. However, due to the rent increases dont plan on being be here more than a yr or 2 because you will likely be priced out. After searching and actually going to see alot of different properties in the West End there are very limited options if safety, low noise and good interior appearance and exterior maintenance are what you are looking for. Just wish the rates would stay at a more reasonable level.
The Hampton is the Best Place to live it like living on a Resort I sold my Five Bedroom Home Back in 2003 Downsize to a Two Bedroom Town home in Short Pump area. in September 2007 i sold my Town home ad moved to the Hampton at Hunton Park it been like living on a beautiful Resort every inch of this community is well maintenance they always doing something to improve the property it is so peaceful and guiet and the other tenants are so nice, and the office staff are always so helpful. i really love this place and it a great place to Feel at home and Live
Me and my wife moved in to the Hamptons at Hunton Park two months ago. We love our apartment, the community is ideal, and the staff is fantastic and friendly. The movie theater and community area is a real plus. Can't wait for football season in the Movie Theater!
Great place to live, great variety of floor plans and amenities!! Awesome community! Great space, and layouts. The only thing that is a little tough is maintenance, they respond after a day ((or a few days)) they are not the quickest. BUT they are all Great guys and great office team, but the place is so big and I guess they just get behind, but other then that no complaints and a great place to live!
