Situated at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Central Virginia, Charlottesville is a fiercely modern city with a reverence for the past. Two United States presidents called Charlottesville home, Thomas Jefferson and James Monroe. Thomas Jefferson designed Monticello and the University of Virginia, both of which are now UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Adjacent to Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello is James Monroe’s Ash Lawn-Highland, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Charlottesville also houses the largest collection of Aboriginal art outside of Australia, the Kluge-Ruhe Aboriginal Art Collection at the University of Virginia. The Jefferson Theater, the Paramount Theater, and a number of music venues in the downtown area host regular performances in Charlottesville, adding to the rich arts and cultural scene.

Property Ratings at MAA Stonefield
We moved into an apartment at Stonefield three months ago. We are absolutely thrilled with the choice to move here. It is a splendid place on so many accounts. The office staff assisted us in locating the right sort of apartment for our specific needs. They took us carefully through the process of signing up. We were given a tour of the premises which gave us information regarding the use of the various facilities. The paperwork was carefully explained. They took the time from their various tasks and helped us anytime that we walked in. They continue to take the time to speak with us and remember our names anytime we walk into the main facility. They are delightfully nice and up-beat. We have had a particularly good welcome from Beverly and Kevin. The apartment complex is extremely well maintained and kept very clean. The halls are vacuumed and mopped on a regular basis. The grounds are kept absolutely free of debris. The plants and lawns are lovely and well cared for. It is lovely ambience for a morning walk. All things are rapidly repaired. If there is anything that is not working, it is repaired in one business day in our experience. The maintenance staff is extremely well skilled and knowledgeable. It has been such a joy to have moved here and to live here. We hope to stay for many years.

Hi, we appreciate your positive review about your recent experience with us! Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you; we are more than happy to help!
We rented this apartment, site unseen. Our experience online and on the phone with Beverly and Kevin was terrific! Kevin took us on a video tour of the apartment and amenities, and answered all of our questions. They have all been more than accommodating with regard to the many details associated with moving. On move in day, we were very pleased with the apartment and community, meeting and exceeding our expectations. Mike, the Maintenance Supervisor, was very helpful and took the time to introduce himself. He took care of a few minor requests for us on the first day we moved in. As new residents, we highly recommend this community and their team! Eric and Linda

I have lived here for 7 months now and I am counting down the days until my lease is over. I moved here from Philly and I can honestly say this is the loudest complex I have ever lived in. Yard work gets done starting at 7:30am so you are woken up by leaf blowers constantly. I’ve called in several complaints about my upstairs neighbor and how they work out at 5am not to mention they make as much noise as possible slamming doors and stomping around. If you have any job that requires late nights and you want your beauty sleep I highly recommend you do not move here. Worst complex ever and A total rip off. There is no luxury involved with this place other then the insane rent.

Great place to live, but do not live here if you are not an experienced renter. They will get you for every penny they can and then some.
I just moved in a month or two ago and have already been able to enjoy most of the property. The gym works fine, though quite small, and the pool is gorgeous. The coffee in the common room is nice though the community computers/printers have been hit or miss. The distance from food and shopping is a major plus, but the way that sound travels from our upstairs neighbor simply walking around is beyond irritating. Doors slamming and private conversations are easily heard through the walls, ceilings and doors. For a luxury apartment, there should be much much more insulation than is currently used... If the location is crucial, I would recommend but no one should pay luxury prices for thin walls. Additionally, there are a lot of irresponsible dog owners who live here and allow their dogs to poop on the sidewalk surrounding the apartment. I’ve had to be extraordinarily careful coming home at night to avoid stepping in dog poop. That issue seems to be more of a tenant issue, but it does raise concerns about cleanliness. In regards to cleanliness, the single small compactor for all the residents trash could be improved. The long horizontal chute means I have to push my garbage down the chute with a broom handle that doesn’t look very sanitary. Lastly, though I’ve enjoyed my apartment so far, when I moved in the outside doors were malfunctioning (wouldn’t lock) and didn’t work properly for more than a week. I hope that doesn’t prove to be a long-standing issue, but turnaround to fix such an important safety issue like that should have been faster.

The community is great! The clubhouse has very nice amenities including a kitchen area, lounging area with two TVs, theater room, and computers for our use and more. The leasing agents provide support when needed and the maintenance crew has a fast response time and are always cheerful! Plus being within walking distance of a lot of shops and restaurants are a plus!
We live in NY but have children that attend or have attended UVA, and Stonefield has been a great find. We love the grounds, and they are always kept so clean. Along with the close proximity to the University, the convenience of the shops and dining within walking distance are a tremendous perk as well. Overall, we are extremely happy with our apartment at Stonefield
my living experience has been very positive except for the inconvenience of a single elevator on multitenant building and task of an outside trash collector. one particular observation is the location of the handicap parking far away from the door. i have lost count how many times i have been unable to take my wife ( stroke survivor) to a doctor in bad weather.
The property is clean, quite, and convenient. The staff is professional, kind, and helpful.
It is A very secure facility. Location is very central, but seriously lacks info re the Stomefield larger community. Give us info about what?s going on in the way of community events like the oyster fest that many residents didn?t even know was going on! Many interesting events could add to the viability of this complex.
The apartments is clean and the outside is well cared for and the staff is friendly. I enjoy the gym but the equipment is a tad cheap and often broken. It would be nice if there were more treadmills and ellipticals
We are very pleased with the staff. Any requests are filled quickly and complete. We are disapointed in the carpeting. It is old and should be replaced.
We are pleased in general, although pet waste and dumpster issues are distinct negatives. When we signed our lease we were told that trash and recycles were co-mingled at the dumpster; separation took place at a processing plant. We find that difficult to believe and challenge Stonefield Commons to prove it.
Good. Clean property, quiet buildings.
The main positive is in the heading. It is location. With a lot more than average dedication by the maintenance staff, the buildings are kept in safe and clean condition. The buildings are four story and pet friendly which is a blessing for those who like heights and animals but a challenge since elevators are necessary and a problem when they break. The animals are a welcome addition but some owners are not too responsible. Prices are high for a small town but worth it if you value location and professional management. Be prepared to pay the rent and on time.
