The place is really gross. The waterway is stagnant and the apartment smells like a sewer. I found big holes in the wall with bad wiring that is a fire hazard. The kitchen sink is dripping non stop. The air vents are filled with black mold. It's a dump and should be shut down and demolished. Major health hazard.

Found black mold, extreme levels of filth, faulty electric and plumbing including dripping pipes and a horrendous smell. I walked out on day one of moving it. Despicably lied to.

MAA calls their properties luxurious. That is a flat out lie. The Oaks at Wilmington Island is an unhealthy place to live and maintenance, ownership and the management company have zero awareness of morality renting my family a dark mold and flee infested apartment. They painted over the mold. They lied and took our money. They are morally bad, cruel and very unpleasant. Protect yourself and your family and don't step onto this property. Anything good written is a lie based on our experience.

Frighteningly unhealthy. The leasing agent misrepresented the apartment I rented to an extraordinary degree as I walked into black mold, flees, a horrid odor and a disgusting level of filth. With no sleep I scrambled to find another location as was reporting to a new job in days and departed within 2 days incurring over a $1000 in additional costs and extraordinary levels of stress. Soulless, irresponsible and despicable. I fear for the health of every MAA tenant irrespective of location and find their leadership clearly is about greed and does not care how they earn it. Just disgraceful.

My sister and I lived here for three years. We absolutely loved the Oaks and all of the staff. Maintenance was always quick to respond when we needed them - which was rare. Quiet neighborhood and we loved all of our neighbors!

I lived here briefly. Noisy and the management does nothing if you’re unfortunate enough to be stuck by inconsiderate neighbors. A friend of mine had rats which management wouldn’t believe until she shot one in her apartment. And they charge you out the wazoo if you get fed up and leave. There are too many good choices to be fooled by pretty packaging. Don’t do it.

I moved here 6 months ago for my work and have found that the Oaks is a beautifully landscaped, and is a quiet community to live in. The Staff here is amazing and you will find that the customer service they give is beyond measure. The maintenance staff are also on the spot and handle issues with the quickest response times that I have ever witnessed in an apartment complex. The Oaks feels more like a community or family rather than just an apartment complex.

I know we live in Savannah but the amount of roaches there were in my apartment were insane. My roommate and I kept our apartment spotless but were killing roaches every day. The apartment always had a cat/hamster smell no matter how many candles we lit. Maintenance is slow to fix problems. By no definition should these be considered luxury apartments. Save your money and live somewhere else!

In the few months I have been at The Oaks, the Air Conditioning System has been worked on twice. The unit in the Apartment is over ten years old and is not well maintained. I would not recommend the Oaks to anyone based upon these experiences.
The GOOD about the Oaks is: It's BEAUTIFUL here. It's quiet and primarily "safe". The atmosphere is pleasant and relaxing. People are cordial and respectful. The BAD about is: There are often roach infestations - primarily because it's a "marsh" community. Snakes are abundant around certain buildings - but again - it's a "marsh" community. They're not quick to replace malfunctioning appliances. Every year, the rent GOES UP!
I moved to Savannah 6 months ago when my husband was offered a new job, we had to move quickly and I didn't get to see the apartment before signing the e-lease. However, the manager Melanie was so helpful she sent me lots of pictures and really helped make the process so much easier. When I saw the apartment I couldn't have been happier, it is the perfect place for my husband and I. I love the open floor plan with the raise bar separating the kitchen somewhat. We also had a brand new washer/dryer unit which is great! The amenities are wonderful, I use the gym daily, and love grilling at the pool. I also take my pooch over the dog park, it is a great feature, but is the only part of the complex I think could use a little TLC. Otherwise, I love living here and finding such a great apartment certainly made the move easier!
The apartments great! Has a nice open layout rooms are big. Close to everything! Can be to the beach or downtown in only 15 min. I have lived here for going on two years now and really enjoy it.
We love our new apartment!!!!! The management company is top-notch and always ensures a wonderful renting experience. We never want to move away and have found our home.
