Property Ratings at Madera West Condominiums
While this property provides a relatively safe environment and comfortably pleasant units, it lacks a resident/owner friendly atmosphere. We could be described as many strangers living next to each other. While it is not unusual for immediate neighbors to 'not know each other' there is 'coldness' about this complex as opposed to 'warmth'. People say hello but there are no smiles. We have a liberal 15 mile per hour speed limit but few adhere to that limitation and often drive twice the speed limit both entering and leaving the complex-- creating a danger to both vehicles and any adults or children walking within the complex. Parking is a serious issue within this complex. There are (according to a board member) 30 visiting parking spots at Madera West. That is a very limited number in view of the 180 or so residents/renters of units at Madera. We have ample space to create more parking spaces but no inclination on the Board of Directors to resolve that obvious problem. I am seventy-nine years of age with a documented heart condition. My wife and I have 2 vehicles and 1 parking space. I am prohibited from using 'visitor parking' so I must park on the street, walk up a block to the gate, enter numbers to open the gate and then walk another block up the hill to my condo unit. I do this while other units have as many as 4 parking spaces, some of which are never used. The Board of Directors have offered to rent us a space for $720 a year. No spaces are available to purchase! I will risk the heart attack before I'll pay this BOD $720.00 a year for their parking space! As said, not a resident friendly (in my admittedly humble opinion) complex.
