Property Ratings at Main Street Living
I live in the Barringer building. It is a historic building which means it can have problems from time to time, but the maintenance staff is always on it! I put in a work order for my sink and Eddie came and fixed it right away. Fast and friendly service is always a plus. The leasing office staff is also very helpful. They are sometimes short staffed, but they try their best and it shows! Every concern I have brought up they have been sure to follow up on and help to the best of their ability.

Thank you for the awesome feedback. We love that you had such a great experience! We truly value your recommendation, and are confident we can continue to provide excellent service in the future. Sincerely, Main Street Living Team
I used to live in the Barringer building. It got laundry machines on the even floors. Unfortunately, quite a fraction of them did not function. That means people in the entire building only had 2 or 3 sets of working machines. What's worse, the staff barely cleaned these machines on a regular basis. That was awfully gross. My underwears were attached with dog hair every time I used these machines for watching.

I love the building, and decor, very trendy and modern. Central location on Main street provides endless entertainment and exquisite dining experiences. Amazingly friendly staff! Best place to live in downtown Columbia!

Thank you so much for your 5-star review of Capitol Places! From our welcoming community to our modern amenities and dedicated staff, we are committed to raising the bar on apartment living. We're delighted to hear that you are loving your home here with us.
So far I'm liking it! Everything has been fast and acceptable. Leasing/management staff do stress the 60 and 30 day move out notices during signing of lease so they are working on past problems stated in other reviews. I'm sure I'll change this review if I feel otherwise in the future! The location is prime for anyone looking for events and things to do.

Great choice to experience downtown Columbia daily(they have multiple buildings around the area, all within a few blocks of each other). While I can only speak of my experience living in Barringer, the staff overall have always been helpful and prompt in responding to any requests. Waking up on Saturday mornings with the Farmer's Market just outside the door is a treat - not to mention easy access to the many festivals Columbia likes to host downtown. I do wish there was a change machine in the building for the community laundry machines, or that I could open up the windows(Barringer specific I believe due to the age of the building), however this is a very small price to pay for a price/location combo that can't be beat(and free gym!).

In my experience, Capitol Places is one of my favorite places I have ever lived. Maintenance is quick to respond if I ever have an issue and they are very friendly. The location of all apartments is ideal--right on Main Street. It is nice to be able to walk just around the corner to the leasing office to drop off rent, etc. Management does a really good job of scheduling resident outings, which creates a nice sense of community. As for the apartment itself, it is really cool living in a historic building and a space that is as spacious as it is beautiful. I would definitely recommend living here!

The location is awesome! Right outside my door is the local weekend market, great restaurants downtown, and only 15 minute walk to USC campus. I feel very secure in my apartment building and the amenities are pretty good (free gym pass to a small local gym, washer/dryer are rarely busy). Compared to other apartments in the downtown area, the rent is fairly priced. The staff is generally helpful and responsive; however, I have had some challenges, including slow or nonexistent responses to carpet cleaning requests when I first moved in, having to ask for a copy of my lease agreement without being given one upon signing, etc. They do promote some community building activities (i.e. free taco lunch, march madness bracket challenge, etc.); however a lot of the events they hold are during the day when I can't participate because I work a 8-5 job.
I have lived here for almost two years My apartment is comfortable, great view. The building is beautiful and secure. Its right downtown and so close to everything, It's near restaurants, the Columbia Museum of Art, a movie theatre, many venues. and also the University of South Carolina, one of the best libraries in the country and all those wonderful art galleries I'm a USC student and the walk to Class is about 15 minutes. The maintenance staff has been great and friendly. I love to live in Capitol Places building.
Capitol Places is a great place to live. It's right on Main St., close to all sorts of restaurants and entertainment, and walking distance to USC. I highly recommend it for anyone who is looking for a downtown living experience.
I live in the Barringer Building right on Main Street. Everything is great except on the street parking because it is always crowded on Main Street. The apartment offers option to park in the garage but it is not the best option because of its location and safety. Other than that, the apartment is great. Staffs and maintenance are always helpful and friendly. The farmer market right outside is also a plus.
I have lived here for about a year and I absolutely love it. It’s a quick walk to the vista, up and down Main Street, and soda city is basically my front door. I have nothing bad to say, excellent management!
I love the downtown area and Soda City Market every weekend right out side the building. Parking is one downside as the garage is three blocks away. The apartment is comfortable and mostly quiet but as with all apartment buildings you have some noises from other apartments. There is a party venue next door and they seem to have an event every weekend but generally the loud music wraps up by 11 PM. There are nearby restaurants and bars some as close as next door and many just a few blocks away. The management has handled all my concerns in a polite and timely manner. Now if there was a full service grocery within about three blocks that would be outstanding.
As students, we need a place that's close to USC, this one is on main Street, within walking distance to USC. It's perfect, the staff are friendly and were very understanding of my service animal. Maintenance is quick and efficient and rooms are spacious with great views of the city!
