In beautiful Downtown Waukesha, Main Street follows the Fox River and the Fox River Trail. The landmark Clock Tower overlooks Downtown Waukesha, which is filled with historic architecture. Stand where Main Street intersects with Broadway to appreciate the beauty of Downtown Waukesha: brick-paved streets, period lighting, sidewalk cafes, and brightly-painted storefronts. The neighborhood is walkable and bicycle-friendly, making it easy to enjoy the variety of boutiques, restaurants, art galleries, taprooms, and pubs that populate the historic buildings.
Cutler Park is located in the heart of downtown and is the site of concerts and events. It features a wooded green space, walking paths, a playground, and the Les Paul Performance Center. Carroll University, established in 1846 and the oldest university in Wisconsin, is located on the south side of Downtown Waukesha. Waukesha County Technical College is also downtown, located off East Broadway.

Property Ratings at 234 W Main St
Heated underground parking when it became available was a godsend in the winter time and the apartment's located in a decent part of town, just outside all of the bar activity. That's about all of the pros I can list. The apartments themselves are quite dated. Old appliances, old washers/dryers, etc. The gym off to the side's a joke and not worth your trouble. There was a new luxury apartment complex built on the east side where a larger field of grass used to be, so views now consist of looking into others' balconies. Office staff availability was a joke. The previous receptionist left and the one that's been there for the last few years never opens the lobby window and never seems to be available during the weekday. I often had missed packages and mail on weekday afternoons and there was apparently a time when a thief was going around stealing packages and an announcement was made to get a PO box. Could easily be avoided with consistent office staff who don't try to hide behind a wall. Maintenance staff would take weeks to answer maintenance requests and were just generally difficult to deal with. They will attempt to nickel-and-dime your security deposit, so make sure to have pictures when you move in and move out. Beware. You're paying a premium for the few pros this place has over other comparable apartments in the area. I don't think it's worth the trouble.
Very quiet building, never hear my neighbors. For the money and location it has been great. Studio is large and lays out well. Heat is included and is ample in the winter. I like that everything I need (less groceries) is within walking distance.
Terrible place to rent from. Lots of noise at night between 12am-230am from people leaving the bars and police activity. Half the washers and dryers do not work. Raise monthly rent over $100 in less than 2 years. Average appliances with not the best layout. Hallways smell from neighbors smoking which tracks inside your own home. Never answer the phone when you need to get ahold of someone. Burned out light bulbs in stairwells. Residents that leave trash in hallways and stairwells. Better places around the area for cheaper. Ever since Gayle left the place has gone downhill.
Main Street Plaza apartments are great apartments smack dab in the middle of downtown Waukesha. The apartments have large windows that let in tons of light for an airy, happy, natural feel during the day, and a picturesque view of the pinks and the oranges of the sunset at dusk. At night, the twinkling city lights remind you that you're in a big city that feels like a small town. My favorite amenities of the apartment are having underground parking and heat included in the price of the rent - two of the best features a Wisconsin apartment can have! The building is within walking distance of the Farmer's market, Frame Park, several cafés and bars, art crawls, and other exciting events in Waukesha. I love it here!
